1. This week, sharing this fun happy face ring, from Roxanne First.

I just think this ring is such a fun concept – you can flip it over to a happy or sad face. Very cute! It’s 14K and honestly the price, though not great, is basically the same as a pair of Prada loafers these days so take from that what you will. A fun statement piece.

2. Thank you Sharyn for sharing this infuriating, fascinating article about a serial killer of elderly women in Texas, via AARP. Seriously so mad after reading it. Why wasn’t anything done earlier, and why wasn’t this covered more widely?

3. Loved this piece, via The New Yorker, on the Getty family’s trust issues.

4. This week I learned about Ozempic, the drug many are taking for weight loss (but which is meant for diabetes) – I went down a Google hole and found this interesting article, via The Cut.

5. This week I read The Hero of This Book, by Elizabeth McCracken.

I would describe this as fiction, but a bit auto-fiction; its about a woman who goes to England and recalls her mom and her death, which from what I understand from reviews, is something the writer went through as well. I have read and enjoyed McCracken’s other books and she is a great writer and this is no exception. If you’re looking for a deep, thoughtful, literary fiction read, I highly recommend The Hero of This Book.
