Weekend Update

Sale PSA: Platform shearling Birkenstock Arizonas, now 25% off, an oversized poplin shirt from Everlane, now $60, and Tibi’s cargo joggers in a slinky bag drape, now 40% off.

1. This week, sharing this gorgeous marled sweater from J.Crew, now 50% off.

I love this!! I have been very close to ordering it, but puff sleeves usually look bad on me (though these look quite subtle), and I’m wondering about the itchiness of the wool. I love how this looks though, such a gorgeous color. And it’s not final sale (which I get grouchy about, especially at anything at, or less than 50% off).

2. An interesting piece, via the NYT, about why Noma is closing its doors soon.

3. I liked this article, via the WSJ, about what women in their thirties and older should wear when they “go out.” A lot of nice options!

4. Yet another piece, via the Washington Post, about the return of the going out top. I don’t remember the last time I bought a “going out top.” Maybe YEARS ago at Express or more recently I got one from Cushnie and Ochs a few years back, but now I feel it is too small.

5. This week, I read Age of Vice, by Deepti Kapoor.

I quite liked this! I will say that I SPED through the first half – it was so good, I was texting friends all over that they should try this out. Towards the second half, it slowed somewhat for me – not in the book’s pace, which is pounding all the way through, but it does get more complicated, with intricate plot details I’m not sure I caught. But. I felt it dropped me in a world that I felt like I was in, if that makes sense. Which is a great thing! If you’re looking for a crime novel, a fast thriller with great writing, I recommend Age of Vice.

I read the article in the NYT about Noma. I tried to comment…usually my comments are posted, but not this time. In a nutshell, I said Good riddance…a restaurant that serves reindeer brains, charges $500 for a chef’s tasting menu meal, and is run by a chef who abuses his employees doesn’t deserve to stay open.

It should just shut down now instead of waiting for 2024.
