Sale PSA: A super useful canvas tote from J.Crew, now under $60, very cool platform fisherman sandals from Miista, now 25% off, and a silky cotton striped shirt from Everlane, now $44 (I have the version of this in reverse and love it, very strongly considering getting a version in white/navy stripe!)
1. This week, I very very very much like this bag, the Bourse, from The Row.
God I like this bag. The little strap that tucks in or can be removed to make it a clutch. The magnetic closure! The soft leather!! It’s kind of what I wanted the Bottega Pouch bag to be (still love that bag). Anyway, a great option from The Row.
2. I loved this piece in The Cut, about the author’s quest to help her mom make friends.
3. I loved this tribute to Issey Miyake, via the NYT.
4. Another great piece via The Cut, I’m Good At Saving But I’m Still Miserable.
5. This week I read Crying in the Bathroom, by Erika Sanchez.
I really enjoyed this! I was in the mood for a confessional memoir – this is that, albeit in a series of essays, so you move around Sanchez’s life. It’s both easy to read, like a lot of these essay books are, but with the added addition that Sanchez is a really excellent writer. And she’s funny. If you’re looking for a funny (warning: foul language)! and very smart, raw memoir, I highly recommend Crying in the Bathroom.

August 13, 2022 at 7:40 amThank you for continuing to post! I have been reading for years and look forward to your weekly updates.
The detachable strap on the bag from The Row reminds me of the detachable strap on a Staud bag I saw recently while browsing for light coloured bags (https://www.net-a-porter.com/en-us/shop/product/staud/bags/shoulder-bags/bean-gathered-leather-shoulder-bag/3589493616308038, albeit it’s at a much lower price point) – love the idea!
