Heels??

Sale PSA: A simple quilted cotton jacket from Everlane, now 50% off, a fun faux fur jacket from Herno, now 40% off, great ankle boots from Gianvito Rossi, now 40% off, and very cute Waffle One sneakers from Nike, now just $55 (I also like these Daybreaks, now $70!)

I’ve been thinking about shoes. Specifically, heels. I like them all of a sudden! I got rid of a ton of my heels when I had kids, and then of course we’ve had two plus years in sweatpants, etc. There was a time when I thought I would never wear heels again. For some reason however I have been looking at them again…when I browse online my eyes are drawn to heels. Is anyone else suffering from this? I don’t know why, it isn’t as if I have anywhere to go in them. I even have the theory it’s because it has been so long since I wore heels, that I forgot how uncomfortable they are, that awful aching feeling at the end of the night. I mean I know it theoretically…but I haven’t experienced it in years! When I see them now I just think about how nice they look and how nice they make clothes look and wouldn’t I like to wear some.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Or is this just another level of pandemic induced delusion?

No, not at all. Even flat unpadded boots are too uncomfortable for me now. Sneakers, running shoes, training shoes, hiking boots you name them. No heels probably ever (except for a few occasions of course which I have plenty of shoes sitting around for).

This may be temporary psychosis! And I’m with you on the flat boots. I need to have padding!

I admit, after watching that scene in And Just Like That where Carrie had hip surgery, I do miss heels. She wore birkenstock looking slippers, and then she finally slipped into her signature heels. Those heels sure looked good on her. šŸ™‚ heck, her legs looked pretty good… nice and toned. Woman is fit. Covid be damn.

That episode did make me miss Louboutins. šŸ™‚ that and watching a Vanessa Hudgens movie called Princess Switch 3 in Netflix, where her blonde doppelganger wore showstopping heels.

Not at all. I went back into the classroom last semester and had to literally rack my brains to remember what I own – only to find my go-to four inch pair had been stolen from my office – yikes !! Don’t miss them at all and hated having to wear them twice a week last semester. Back in boots and “sensible” shoes again since this is my research semester – thank god. I’m well into my forties now. One shouldn’t have to do heels anymore.

Heels? Youā€™re kidding me? Yes, for dress up and/or formal, but otherwise donā€™t risk breaking your neck!

Iā€™ve totally been experiencing this too! It all started at the beginning of the pandemic, for some reason, and I canā€™t seem to stop buying designer heels again. Yes, they arenā€™t comfortable, but I love the way they look! Iā€™m hoping the obsession will stop soon, lol!

Do platform espadrilles with a slight heel count? Cant do dressy heels anymore (those are carpeted office shoes, in my book!) but found a really cute pair of Hermes espadrilles the other day. Hope this will satisfy my craving for more pulled together but still casual shoes. Otherwise itā€™s been Birkenstock thong sandals, sneakers, and Ilse Jacobsen slip ons.
