Sale PSA: A fringed cashmere scarf from Khaite, now 60% off, a chic flannel blazer from Theory, now 60% off, comfortable knit joggers from Zella, now 20% off, and a chic alpaca cardigan from Everlane, now just $60.
Happy New Year’s Eve, friends! I hope you have a safe and fun celebration tonight!
1. This week in sale items: sharing this little clutch, from Khaite, now 40% off.
I love this! My favorite part are the little feet – you don’t often find them on clutches and I actually think they are quite useful, especially if you’re putting the clutch next to you at the table. A really lovely, clean design. I also like the full leather version which might be more practical but which is full price! A nice offering from Khaite.
2. I liked this piece about the NYT (even though it made some people mad): Marriage Requires Amnesia.
3. A fun piece from the WSJ about designer down coats and whether they’re worth it. I just bought a Jil Sander/Uniqlo down jacket to try out…will update how it works out, I find sizing on this collaboration very confusing.
4. A fun little piece from Fashionista (although I find this website’s ad popups less than desirable) about their editor’s favorite items in 2021.
5. This week I read Fault Lines, by Emily Itami.
I had first read this book quite a few months ago, to write a blurb for it (that’s my quote on the cover!) I recently did a re-read however, and it was even better than I remembered – just great prose and so many killer lines, funny and poignant and thoughtful about so many topics, from marriage to motherhood. I will say up front that the premise is a Japanese housewife who has an affair (as I know some people don’t like reading about affairs). BUT if you like Sally Rooney, if you like fiction about Japan or just plain good writing…I highly recommend Fault Lines.

December 31, 2021 at 8:08 amHello Katherine and Happy New Years! I purchased the Jil Sander for Uniqlo puffer: I bought the cream one,
the black one with the drawstring waist, and the vest. I can say that the black one is of better quality than than the cream one. The cream puffer’s zipper is faulty. The black puffer is thicker. The vest is a little thin. However, I bought the black short puffer from last year with the bell sleeves and that one is great.
