1. This week, eyeing these raffia mules from Fendi.
They are very pretty! The price, of course, is no good but also pretty much in line with designer shoes. I like the subtle logo and the thatching – a good way to add some fun interest to an outfit if you’re someone who often wears all black, as I do. Also, I find that this photo is a little misleading – it almost makes the shoe look like it has a slingback, whereas it’s a straight mule.
2. I really enjoyed reading this feature, via the NYT, delving into eight different families and what they spent for the month. Very fascinating!
3. A wonderful feature, again, via the NYT, of Paulina Porizkova. What do you think of her? I find her delightful.
4. Are you aware of this word cheugy? I’m fairly certain I’m it…partially because I really couldn’t define yet (and thus must be exhibiting many symptoms). A quick primer on the term, via NY Mag.
5. This week I read Motherhood, by Sheila Heti.
I enjoyed this a lot. It’s definitely not a “plot” centered novel, more like a meditation of having children, and being a mother, and whether any of it is worth it. If you like Jenny Offill and/or are thinking about reading almost a stream of consciousness about motherhood (a highly literary one), I recommend Motherhood.
