Sale PSA: A super cozy fleece hoodie from Zella, now $35, cropped Ugg shearling booties, now under $100, a short sleeve (waffle!) cotton tee from Everlane, now $20, and a very pretty silk mini dress from Doen, now $188 (you can button it up more, ha)
For those celebrating in the US, that is. What are you doing? We are having dinner with my mom who lives nearby (have been exclusively “podding” for the last two weeks to make it safe). Dinner courtesy of Whole Foods. We usually have the whole turkey meal but this year chose for the first time a “smoked” turkey option that is just a portion of it…I’m looking forward to trying it out! Apparently Whole Foods sold out of all its catered meals really early this year, I guess nobody wants to cook.
My son is out of school the entire week (I am starting to realize that “real” school also means multiple weeks long breaks throughout the year). Although in this case I’m happy because we have a week off from being ruled from that darn iPad and all its programs and various online credentials that sometimes don’t work.
Anyway. We originally had planned a “staycation” at a near-ish resort but at the last minute just cancelled it. Bummer because it would have been nice to get away but it just felt a little risky and plus I couldn’t imagine catching Covid and having to use up medical resources because of a “Thanksgiving staycation”. We kind of knew this might be the case when we booked it…usually we tell the kids when we’ve got a trip planned but in this case we didn’t. Didn’t want to get their hopes up. Instead, my husband and I got each of them a small Lego set and are planning on releasing them during the point in the week in which we are most desperate.
Some bits and bobs to add:
If you’re bored this week and have lots of time…consider buying Obama’s book (or any book) from your local independent bookstore! They will WELCOME the sales. Check out this NY Times article about it.
Update on my Everlane cashmere waffle sweater I mentioned in this post – I liked it! But it was a little too small. I don’t know, I must have a truly giant head or something. I wish it unbuttoned a little more. I then thought to get this half zip but it is all sold out! Great style, right? I love that it is all merino. Bookmarked so I can check back.
If you’re cleaning out your closet/attic/kitchen – I recently discovered Buy Nothing and love it! What a wonderful concept to recycle items within your community. I’ve found when I post items on my local Facebook group they are gone within 24 hours – and I even made a semi-friend who I now wave to on my walks.
Also, be nice to yourself. You don’t have to be nice to anyone you don’t want to. You don’t have to make polite conversation with anyone you don’t feel like (unless they sign your paycheck or something).
PS: I know this week is about family. I’ve had…a LOT of time with my family. I’m actually ignoring my children right now to type this. But feelings come and go and so do pandemics. There is an end in sight.
I’ll be updating later with some sales as they come….not doing major BLACK FRIDAY (!!!!!) coverage and you can find that lots of other places…but I do have my eye on a few items and will post as/if they go on sale. Have a wonderful holiday, friends.

November 23, 2020 at 11:05 amHappy Thanksgiving! I wish you and your family lots of warmth and peace.
I also yearn for a staycation, but for now I am not booking anything for the same reasons. Plus I live in a hot spot and our baby is only 7 months old. Maybe I will drive to a state park nearby and take long walks..

November 23, 2020 at 12:43 pmWishing you and your family a wonderful holiday too, Kat! Appreciating your thoughtfulness around staycation, I too have been yearning to get away and don’t because it feels too risky. Also appreciating that other readers are feeling the same way! Sounds like you have a lovely holiday planned at home.
