It was a long weekend….a very long weekend. Why does every night start with good intentions (go to bed early, awake refreshed and feeling young) only to end up with staying up until well after midnight, frantically scrolling the news? We went to Half Moon Bay over the weekend to escape some bad air and had lunch at Dad’s Luncheonette. Local folks, have you all already been? They have my favorite version of the burger in the Bay Area right now.
Anyway. Sharing some favorite purchases over the last month. I’ve been trying to buy less. But I still have some favorites. Here they are:
Everlane Breton Tee: I think I mentioned this one earlier. I originally was thinking black but ended up getting blue just to mix things up and I wear it quite a lot! The blue goes well with denim (and white/khaki). Unfortunately the only photo I could find of me wearing the top was of trying to straighten out my son for his distance learning photo AND I appear to have some sort of double chin in it (Covid, have you not done ENOUGH??). Anyway it’s the perfect thickness between flimsy and heavyweight AND the perfect length (hits a little below waist). A classic Breton. I took size XS. Shoes are my favorite Birkenstock Essentials. And on the topic of Birkenstocks, I also picked up…
Shearling Birkenstocks: I actually had a yucky experience. I ordered the shearling Bostons and happily opened the box, only to find the pair was used! Given the various Covid germ frights I wasn’t going to stick my foot into a pair of used Birkenstocks just to see how they look – I ended up sending them back and deciding to try the Arizonas instead. I haven’t gotten to wear mine out yet but I love how plush they feel! In California, these + socks are likely enough to get through winter. And nobody will be around to make fun of me.
Plastic Trays: Parents, this one is for you. I originally bought these trays as a way to manage my puzzle pieces (given how much I talk about my new hobby, I think my blog will slowly evolve into a puzzle fan site) but when these trays arrived I realized they are perfect for kids. Managing loose Legos, eating outside, art projects, putting their snacks on so they don’t crumb all over the place…all kinds of things. And they are REALLY sturdy!
They also fit a piece of “regular” printer paper – I’ve got a little magazine in there just so you can see (this one is the Economist, so smaller than a fashion mag).
PS : for those looking for a larger serving platter, I recently got this one.
Cerave Hydrating Cleanser Bar: I found these after watching a few videos with Hyram Yarbo (via this NY Times article I recommended a few weeks back). He loves Cerave and I saw it mentioned that these bars are a way to use less plastic (instead of buying those plastic bottles filled with body wash). I’m still using up my old body wash so haven’t used these yet. But am actually quite excited! The bars are also available at Amazon for a tiny bit more (if you buy two and take advantage of the 50% off deal).
What have you bought (and liked) lately?

October 5, 2020 at 9:40 amI bought the shearling Arizonas about eight weeks ago and I love them. They are the perfect work from home shoe for the Bay Area — when you want something kind of warm, but still a sandal.

October 5, 2020 at 10:59 amI am so sorry that happened to you (re: the Bostons). I recently ordered the exact pair and actually really really like them. I am in NY so the closed toe is kind of a requirement.

October 7, 2020 at 6:51 amCan we talk about your shorts? Constantly in search of a comfortable and flattering pair that aren’t in the teen zone. Help!

October 8, 2020 at 1:08 pmThese are old Levi’s I think. And I’m at that phase where I’m not sure if cut offs are “too teen” for me too! Getting older is no fun…
