1. This week, sharing these Jimmy Choo sandals.
Very cute and Covid friendly (aka comfortable), right? And at a decent price (for luxury). I love the color and these look super comfortable. Kind of a version of the Hermes Orans, which I also love.
They are also available at Nordstrom and in black and tan, but for $40 more there for some reason. Also, if you are looking for a less expensive version, I have these and they are very nice (I took half a size up and they fit well – you can see them in this post)
2. Sharing this piece, via Vanessa Friedman for the NY Times, about “workleisure.” What do you think? Sounds good to me!
3. A gossipy article, via T&C, about how the wealthy are “stocking up” on cosmetic treatments now, before another potential fall lockdown.
4. A long, fascinating piece, via NY Times Magazine, about how two British dentists became celebrities in the “incel” movement.
5. This week I read My Life As A Villainess, by Laura Lippman.
Lippman is actually a crime/mystery writer – the first book I read of hers was Sunburn, which I recommended earlier. She’s a fantastic writer and seems like a very interesting person (not that I’ve ever spoken to her or know her at all). I shared one of Laura’s essays in Longreads, Game of Crones, a while back. And after I got a LOT of messages, about how much you liked the piece. I liked it too, so much that I remembered it when I saw that she had a new book of essays out. Which I liked a lot. Each piece is engaging but also reads very easily. She’s an excellent writer, and covers everything from career to aging to marriage and friendship. If you like Lippman’s fiction, or the article I shared above, I recommend you give My Life As A Villainess a try.

August 28, 2020 at 3:45 pmI’ve always been curious about the Hermès Orans. I generally find slides to be comfortable but in in theory. Do these hold your feet enough so that they don’t slide off or strain your toes?

August 28, 2020 at 4:17 pmThey do hold my feet but I have flat feet (curses!!) so they are a tad too flat for my comfort. I much prefer the Oasis sandals for that reason!

August 28, 2020 at 4:45 pmSpeaking of vailainess, I recently finished The Robber Bride. It was such an engaging read and I love the protagonist Zenia. Want to give this a try but not sure if I’m in an essay mood. Maybe later!

August 29, 2020 at 2:01 pmI love that book! Looking at it on my bookshelf across from my desk right now 🙂 I could read a whole book on Zenia’s backstory.
