1. This week recommending a more random item (but that I LOVE!) – these black satin sleep scrunchies.
I am a scrunchie person. Especially after Covid. Well honestly before Covid too. They are just so much more comfortable for my hair and I have a hard time with those tougher elastics now. These are the favorite scunchies I have found – I love them, sleep with them, use them pretty much all day and everyday. They are nice enough to use outside (in my opinion) and if you have longer hair they are a small purchase which could improve your life! Hurrah.
PS: They are also available at Ulta for the same price.
2. I love George Saunders (he is one of my favorite authors) so I was delighted to find this older speech of his, with advice to graduates.
3. For anyone who missed it, this amazing piece, via The NY Times, about the future of fashion and how it may have “collapsed,” forever.
4. Kind of a “I hate these people” kind of read (which I love), via Town & Country, about whether “rich” can buy “normal” in a pandemic. I have all kinds of feelings about this. I understand wanting the best for your kids. I also have…other feelings. Have had some OBNOXIOUS conversations with other parents in the past few weeks. Need to think about it all before I express!!
5. This week I read A Life In Parts, by Bryan Cranston.
I actually found this book because I happened to read an article on Lupita Nyong’o’s favorite books. Who doesn’t want to be like Lupita?? It surprised me that she chose Cranston’s biography and so thought I’d take a look, even though I’ve never watched Breaking Bad (though I did love Malcolm in the Middle growing up). And…I loved the book. Cranston is so elegant, and just such seems like such a wonderful, intelligent man. If you love any of Cranston’s work, are an aspiring actor/actress (!!) or just like a great biography, I highly recommend A Life In Parts. Oh! And the first review on the Amazon page I linked is from his ex-wife, isn’t that very nice?

August 14, 2020 at 1:25 pmRegarding the article on fashion, I think the industry will contract dramatically. I also think the automobile industry might experience the same thing, as will some others. If the economy falters long-term, which looks possible, the excess of choices we have in many areas may not be sustainable.
