Weekend Update

Sale PSA: A long sweater coat from Theory, now $356, gray slingback pumps from Manolo Blahnik, now $400 (I like these. A lot! Why aren’t they selling out? Also in a pretty cognac color here, for $500), a great blue/gray Theory coat at a GREAT price, and a gorgeous green coat from Mango, now $180 (I love green coats! Pippa Middleton wore the same exact one!)

Also! my favorite cashmere sweatpants from Everlane are under $100 right now – I paid full price for them! AGH

1. This week, sharing these boots, from Jimmy Choo.

I like these boots a LOT. Like, a LOT! I think they’re so fun and I love the little crystal detail which just adds that little extra something without being too ostentatious.

I have a soft spot for Jimmy Choo boots, because a few of my favorite boots have been from there. Their lug sole versions are my favorite and these look like the perfect everyday ankle boots. The only problem is they aren’t on sale. I will wait.

2. I really enjoyed this NYT piece, about how Taylor Swift wrote “Lover”. I’m a Taylor fan (do the kids these days say “Stan??”). She is talented and works super hard. I love hearing about the creative process of artists of all forms.

3. Sharing this piece, by Keith Gessen for The New Yorker, about parenting a toddler: Love and Anger

4. Another NYT article about a Japanese village with little children, so they’ve started making dolls to replace them. They can come watch mine!

5. This week I read Slade House, by David Mitchell.

I’m a Mitchell fan. I think I’ve read almost everything he’s written. And yet for some reason I had never gotten around to this – maybe because it was described as kind of gothic? Kind of eerie? Which I have to be in the mood for. I finally read it this week though and it was SO GOOD. Especially the first half. So, so good. The book is about a mysterious house in London in which visitors keep disappearing…and you really have to discover the rest. I would highly recommend this, especially if you’ve ever liked anything else by Mitchell ( who wrote Cloud Atlas). But its also a great introduction to him. Loved, loved, Slade House.
