Sale PSA: A chic relaxed tunic/sweater from Free People in tons of colors, now 40% off, a classic black Smythson notebook, now 30% off, short booties from Ugg, now under $100, and an adorable mini card case (with even a zip for coins) from Balenciaga, now $275.
1. This week, sharing this very useful wool/cashmere coat from Theory, now 40% off.
I have an earlier season’s version of this. It is so useful! And warm! Even 40% off is quite steep (for Theory) but if you consider how much more you’ll wear it than a single sweater than it makes sense. And you will. Wear it more. I just got a chic long coat but the thing that drives me crazy is I have to take it off when I drive. This is where short coats like this are soo much better.
2. Karl Lagerfeld’s obituary, as written by Carine Roitfeld. Can you believe he passed this year? It’s a short piece, but made me think about how important mentors can be to our lives. To push us and criticize us and tell us when our work is good.

3. An interesting piece, via The NYT, about fast fashion and Generation Z. I feel so old because I haven’t heard of most of the sites mentioned.
4. Sharing this article, via The NYT, about what happened when a young Chinese woman accused a billionaire of rape.
5. This week I read Blood Will Out, by Walter Kirn.

One of my favorite true crime articles is this Vanity Fair piece, about the imposter/fraud “Clark Rockefeller”. It has everything: the rich! murder! social climbing! McKinsey! And more! So when I heard about Blood Will Out – which details Walter Kirn’s friendship with the fake Rockefeller himself, I had to try it. I think Kirn is a great writer and it is evidenced in this book – though to be honest I found the first half more compelling (the second focuses on the trial). But it’s a great read, especially if you’re a crime non-fiction fan.

December 20, 2019 at 12:36 pmThank you for sharing the Karl Lagerfeld obituary by Carine Roitfeld. They are two of my favorite style icons. I heard the news of his passing while in the hospital with my Beloved Mother. I lost her three short months later. Have a Blessed and Merry Christmas!

December 20, 2019 at 9:27 pmThe first word that came out when I read the article on fast fashion is ‘what a waste’. I don’t think I was buying that much clothes when I was their age. Iam a Millenial, but I feel like a world apart with Gen Z!

December 22, 2019 at 12:41 pmI also have an earlier season version of that Theory coat in black, and wear it so much, especially now that i am pregnant and drive around a lot. That fast fashion article was depressing. All the waste.
