Sale PSA: A great simple bootie from Madewell, now 60% off, a Theory trench coat perfect for fall, in the most excellent shade of caramel, also 60% off, and an ADORABLE embroidered bikini t-shirt, from J.Crew, now $18
Hello! This week, I’m sharing some recent purchases, starting with these Prada sandals.
These have been on my list for a long time. I bought them earlier, but in the wrong size (I love Nordstrom for almost everything but their designer shoe sizing guide is always off – I ordered a half size up when I should have gone true to size); I was lazy and didn’t re-order and then they were recently a paltry $100 off when Nordstrom was price matching Saks and so I bought them again. I’ve had a few events where I needed comfortable heels and I realized I’m still wearing my YSL Tributes because there is no better option for comfort – I thought these could be a good other option in the rotation. And they are!
One immediate advantage, besides the comfort, is that they can more easily be worn with casual outfits, like denim.
Another interesting thing to note about the shoes – the bottom is rubber. Which assists so much with grip. Smart of Prada but i wonder if it’s cheaper or more expensive than the old plain smooth leather soles?
Overall: I like these and they’re a good “all arounder” heeled black sandal. I’d definitely recommend if you have a hole in your wardrobe in this area. Price is ridiculous as it is with all designer shoes but for such an all around worker I consider it OK. Sometimes I do wonder if I need to go “premium designer” for shoes – but then I try cheaper pairs, even at the contemporary/$400 level and they are still uncomfortable? Am I missing out on some good brands and options? Let me know!
Next – these Madewell jeans, $128.
Madewell makes my favorite jeans and on average I buy one pair a year from them. This year I decided to get these “Chancery stovepipes” and I am so happy! They are exactly what I wanted, high waist, the perfect shade of medium blue, a little interest on the bottom with the fray. Petite 24 would be a closer fit but I got Petite 25 to have some more comfort with the belly and I’m very pleased! Love love love these. I also have a long torso and these make me look more proportional, no small feat I assure you. And no alterations necessary, which is never the case with denim except if they offer petite. Highly recommend.
Everlane Texture Cotton Cardigan, $98. I really like this! Apparently it is kind of an “inspired” version of a cardigan from Babaa which is a favorite in the blog/IG community but I had no idea until I started looking at reviews. I thought about buying the Babaa but it is one size? So I gave up.
Sizing wise, I took an XXS in this which is smaller than I usually go for Everlane (I usually do XS, especially if I’d like to layer). HOWEVER I think this cardigan runs quite large. I originally got an XS and exchanged for XXS. You can see there’s still quite a lot of room too. Overall I think this is a great cozy option for fall and super versatile, especially for the price. And I guess it sells out quick! I just noticed the cream version I bought is out of the small sizes (but always check back because Everlane I’ve found does random small quantity restocks). But I really like that auburn color.
Okay – that’s what I’ve tried and liked lately! What about you?

September 17, 2019 at 5:17 amI think their shoes are very nice quality for the price point. I particularly like their Pastoso driving loafers. I also think Margaux makes lovely ballet flats and sandals.

September 17, 2019 at 5:03 pmAnother vote for M.Gemi. I’m quite hard on my shoes and find it hard to justify the cost of designer shoes. I have several pairs from M.Gemi and they’re all really good quality leather. My favorite are the Lustro for work heels and the Stellato flats.

September 16, 2019 at 10:45 amIs that tank Elizabeth Suzann? I’ve had it in my cart for weeks but am torn on sizes–XXS vs XS. I’m honestly loving recent purchases from Lululemon and Athleta, specifically their collections bridging the gap between athleisure and workwear (more business casual, obviously). Super comfortable, super practical (throw it in the wash/your suitcase).

September 16, 2019 at 4:08 pmI have to agree with you on Lulu! I either am at work or am running around town with my active son and I’ve found “regular” clothes to be so uncomfortable (I live in Hong Kong where it’s really hot and humid many months of the year). I’ve even been able to wear a few of their skirts, tops, and dresses to work. Woo hoo!

September 16, 2019 at 8:54 pmI am wearing an XXS if that helps! I bought the same in the midweight linen but didn’t keep it (I think I reviewed a few months back). It was too stiff. The gauze has a little more give. HOWEVER it is a lot for the amount of fabric. I’m trying a few more crop tops that are less $$ and will update with a review! I’d love to hear the items you’re loving from Lululemon and Athleta!

The “here to there” dress is amazing. The cut is very flattering and it can be dressed up/down. Looks great for travel. Also, it has pockets (the one size that have a little card/key compartment). The “on the fly” shorts are insanely comfy, as is the “on the fly skirt.” Both have extra deep pockets, excellent for stashing a phone. Finally, the “sights seen” jacket is a winner, lots of nice details and light but cozy.:)

September 18, 2019 at 7:57 amI just switched to a casual job (tech from consulting) and I’ve been looking for great jeans! I bought a few pairs of AG Farrahs and they’re honestly the most comfortable jeans I’ve worn – they almost remind me of leggings. I have to get them hemmed though which is a huge pain so I might check out Madewell. Other thing I loved that I bought recently is my J. Crew rain coat! It’s perfect for the drizzly PNW weather and just brings everything together but is more casual than a trench coat.

September 21, 2019 at 12:32 pmEveryone has been telling me to try Madewell jeans the last couple years but I have been in various states of pregnant/nursing/pregnant again/nursing again so I guess I haven’t been buying many jeans. Will have to check them out soon!
I actually love that your new prada shoes have rubber bottoms – I always end up taking my new designer shoes with leather soles to the cobbler to have them put on anyway for longevity.
Purchases loving lately: golden goose sneakers (finally broke down and got these and I see the hype!), bombas socks which really are the best – I love the cushioned no show and buy from nordstrom, and gucci princetown mules.
