1. Today in sale finds: sharing a very pretty linen dress, via Alexis, now 60% off.
This dress reminded of me of another favorite dress style of mine, the Rhode Resort Ella, but I also like the spaghetti strap design of this one. Very pretty and perfect for summer and it’s linen to boot. It was a little overpriced at full price in my opinion but on sale its better.
2. Two great pieces, on the comeback of Ralph Rucci – one in The NY Times, the second in the WSJ. The WSJ piece is the more comprehensive one and includes quotes from the goddess Deeda Blair.

3. A very interesting piece, via Racked – We’ve Forgotten How To Dress Like Adults.
4. A great article on Judge Judy, via The NY Times – Judge Judy is Still Judging You. Wow. I really love all the articles this week! I’ll probably read this again.
5. This week I’m reading Very Nice, by Marcy Dermansky.

This is one of those charming, very clever novels with a group of so-called “unlikeable” characters, which tends to be my thing – it’s kind of like if Jonathan Franzen wrote a beach read. If you like tragi-comedies, or books with the funny and rich, I highly recommend Very Nice.

July 5, 2019 at 10:44 amThis morning, I immediately went to the article about dressing like adults. At 69, I now fear looking like ‘walking menopause’. Ten years ago, I feared looking MDAL. I remember shopping in SF as a child with my mother, when women wore suits. I thought I’d dress that way someday. I watched movies with Doris Day wearing dresses with matching coats. I was young and it never occurred to me that there was a tremendous expense to maintain that lifestyle.
But I loved the article because it was like a stroll down memory lane. Today I pulled on a tunic, white jeans and a pair of espadrilles….and I’m good to go. I just hope I don’t look like walking menopause…..

July 7, 2019 at 8:58 amThank you! I love getting older in many ways, but I’m definitely feeling some ageism these days. I may be 69 on the outside, but inside I feel like I’m in my 40-50’s. Oh, well, it IS offset by many of the benefits, I guess…….

July 5, 2019 at 10:52 amI really enjoyed the article from racked! Thank you for sharing. Very Nice sounds fun! I did purchase your last recommendation. Sadly, I don’t know when I’ll be able to read it. My Mother passed away on 5/20/2019. I still read blogs and am currently researching Life After death according to the Bible. I know that this happens to everyone. It’s as hard as I knew it would be! I’m looking forward to continue reading your blog.

July 5, 2019 at 12:40 pmLiz I’m so sorry to hear about your mom. Thanks so much for sharing – I know how hard it can be. If you need more book recommendations along a certain mood/theme (or if you want to tell me some books you like) I can totally give you more recommendations too.

July 7, 2019 at 8:13 pmDid you buy the Rhode Ella dress Kat? DId you like it? I’ve had my eye on it for awhile but am not sure and it seems a little too spendy for a “fun” summer dress.

July 8, 2019 at 8:33 amI did but it’s a little bit too large on me! I think it’d look GREAT on a taller person. It is worth a try, I feel like matches sometimes has them a little cheaper.
