First – thank you all so much for your wonderful and kind (and ego inflating) comments on my eight year blog post! I read every single one multiple times. I am currently on vacation with my family otherwise I would have replied to each one and said THANK YOU. Thank you so much!
Okay – now onto the links –
1. Sharing the prettiest wrap dress this week, via Reformation.
I love Reformation very much but it can be hard to find dresses that are a little longer in length (without a slit). Love this one – linen (hooray), a great midi length, and the puffed sleeves make it special.
2. My favorite interview this week is this gem, via Vulture, with Anjelica Huston. Wow. Wouldn’t it be great if all celebrity interviews were with subjects who no longer give a f***, who really would say everything it was that they thought and felt?
3. I read with great interest this NY Times piece on Nobu Ryokan. I didn’t even know this place existed! Though from the review, I wouldn’t stay here for the price. And I’m surprised the place doesn’t integrate the food from Nobu more? No dinner in room option?
4. Loved this piece, from Laura Lippman, about being a mother at the age of 51 – Game of Crones. Fantastic. She mentions a few times in the article her husband and I didn’t know until I looked it up that she’s married to David Simon of The Wire. I recommended Lippman’s latest book, Sunburn, earlier last year.
5. This week, I read Southern Lady Code, by Helen Ellis.
I loved this charming little book (I say little only because it was shorter than I would have liked – I could have read twice as much from Ellis). A series of essays about being a Southern woman, or really any woman but I’m not doing it justice – for a little preview, go to the Amazon page and check out the series of quotes from the book, and you can immediately get an idea of the flavor and tone.If you liked my earlier recommendation of Sloane Crosley, I highly recommend Southern Lady Code.

I forgot to wish you congrats on your blog anniversary. Your blog is the only one I consistently read these days. I don’t always comment but I wish for you to know that your content is appreciated.

May 10, 2019 at 9:36 amI’ve been reading your blog for a while, and had to reply b/c that Laura Lippmann piece was lovely, poignant and true. I haven’t heard of her before at all. I loved the line, “My afterlife will be in others’ memories, mainly my daughter’s, if I’m lucky. ” Thanks for posting this.

May 12, 2019 at 10:11 pmThat’s a really pretty one. I want to love Reformation but my orders never quite worked out for me. I ordered a whole bunch of wrap dresses post partum for breastfeeding but the dip is always too low for me and I need to wear a tank underneath which makes it so cumbersome. I think I might need to come to the realisation that Reformation probably just doesn’t work for my body type.
