Weekend Update

1. It’s been a really long time since I’ve really wanted an Hermes silk scarf (though the company has some gorgeous modern designs lately) but for some reason this latest release, Animapolis, is so tempting.

Isn’t this scarf, designed by Jan Bajtlik, completely wonderful? I very tempted to buy it and frame it on my wall. All the colors, the detail, the modernity combined with the fact that if you fold and wear it, it can still go with the most conservative pantsuit. It is just so intricate and wonderful. I researched a little bit about Jan and he began as a children’s book illustrator!

2. Last week when I posted about Danskos, the reaction was unanimous that I shall not buy. However, I just wanted to present a counterpoint, via The NY Times:, in praise of an unfashionable shoe.

3. An piece from the WSJ, about how people are showing their ankles, even on the coldest winter days, in order to preserve their outfit. Do you do this? I do this but when I was in NY during the polar vortex a few weeks ago I definitely did not, there is a temperature where fashion is to be sacrificed for warmth.

4. Okay I’ve been thinking about buying Bitcoin. I came across this Wired article, about how one guy lost his PIN and nearly a ton of money.

5. This week – no books compete! Because a) Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is back on, aka my #1, but also because I became addicted to a show and ate up my reading time. Russian Doll, from Netflix.

I know some of you must have watched this too. You have, right? It’s wonderful. Something just works so well and I don’t know what it is but I wish there were more shows like it. Highly recommend.

Love the sweater dress/sweater coat! I just placed an order for this sweater after seeing Kate Middleton in it, seems to get great reviews:

I just framed an Hermes scarf for the first time! The design is called Peuple du Vent (People of the Wind) and it’s amazingly beautiful! The framing was $$$ but so worth it! I have gotten so many compliments from visitors and it brings me joy to see it on my wall. 🙂
I’ll have to check out that Netflix show! Have a great weekend!

Really? Which color way? Mine is pink, but my mom took one look at it and wants it in blue — to wear! She fell in love with it. 🙂

If you want them, you should buy them. They are your feet, not anyone else’s. I have a pair of brazenly bright red cowboy boots and I wear them. To some they may be an eye sore, but I love them and it’s my happiness.

I love the comfort and support of Danskos, however I always wear them with very long, bootleg jeans/pants in order to hide the shoe.

Danskos…very comfortable and durable and worn by nurses? Not to mention priced match on Nordstrom. I just bought a pair to try! I saw Heidi Klum and Julia Robert wear a pair (black patent and red respectively), so I’m going to try it out.

My dear husband told me this beautiful scarf he saw while traveling to Germany and that it was so beautiful that he wanted to get it for me, stopped only after learning how much a scarf could cost. I asked him which store he went to. He remembered with difficulty the spelling to be Hermes. I was sore that he didn’t get it but secretly applauded him for his good taste, haha!! What I meant to say is that please get this one, it is soooo unique and beautiful!!

Why are you considering Bitcoin? Do you think the price will be going back up? I’m so curious…

    Re: bare ankles
There was a time that I’d do whatever was necessary to ensure that my outfit was was appropriate as far as style goes. I’m now 69 and, while I try to look appropriately up-to-date for my age, I will no longer suffer discomfort for the sake of a style. But then, I’ve broken just about every “I’d never go out looking like that!” Statement I’ve ever made about women my age that I’ve seen dressed (in my mind) way too carelessly. So, I’m definitely not a good source for which style rules should be broken and which should be adhered to…..

I finished Russian doll earlier this week and thought the first two episodes were difficult to get through. After that, I loved it. The intro of Alan was great and the finale was an awesome cliff hanger, I can’t imagine what next season will bring.

Is this ankle trend fashion or that mostly ankle pants were sold in the stores and people just continue to wear them? It is way too cold to be exposing ankles.

A few of my thoughts on this and a previous post. I live in frigid Montreal, so no bare ankles for me! I used to to acquire a couple H Scarves a year, but for some reason haven’t lately (buying bags, I guess). I have however bought two this year that I adore and one is mentioned by you – Awoooo. The other is my first Kermit Oliver and first washed, Pawnee.

I’m a clog person! When I lived in the US south, I wore Dansko clogs most of the year with faded, rolled up jeans and T-shirts, no socks. I like to think I pulled off the look! After some time, I put the clogs in the top of my closet. Fast forward to a few years ago when I was leaving the States and doing the deepest closet clean ever. Taking the clogs down to inspect, the heels had split and come apart, so they didn’t make the journey with me. I also sold all of my Swedish Hasbeen’s except one pair of Blue Superhighs.

I say wear whatever you want on your feet and that scarf is awesome! Go for it!
