Today I am going to dedicate an entire post to a new favorite cosmetic product. I don’t think I have been so happy to find a new item of makeup for a LONG time (the last one was this Trish McEvoy mascara, which stays on all day and washes off like a dream). But this one is even better.
Enter: this NYX brow gel.
You know, the longer I have kids, the less makeup I wear. This is not really a positive development in my book – every year I make the resolution that I want to be more “polished” and instead I end up wearing the same LL Bean fleece for a week straight, changing only when I do the preschool pickups so that other parents don’t think I’m a bum.
The only makeup that I do every day is my eyebrows. I have a hole in my left eyebrow, due to a chickenpox scar, and so I fill it in every morning. What has been driving me crazy however, is the fact that by mid-day, due to sweat and moving around and (most probably) putting my face into my hands out of stress and whatever, half of my eyebrows are wiped off, or even worse, the right side is off and the left is on, and then I look like a lunatic.
Enter – brow paint! Seriously why hadn’t I heard of this product category before? I first came across this product at Makeup Forever, which calls their product Aqua Brow. The makeup artist matched me to taupe, which blended perfectly with my brow color (I have dark brown hair – you can see the taupe on another dark haired blogger here), and then informed me that they were sold out and could be for weeks. What! So instead, when I got home, I looked for a good dupe, and found this by NYX.
Here’s what I do – I squeeze out about a drop, and then get my MAC brush (super old, I think it’s the old version of this brush), and dip it all along the edge. I don’t overload the brush but I’m not stingy, either. Then, I use a light hand and brush on. Voila!
This stays on all day (I’ve worn it in a rainstorm with no problems) and honestly it is awesome to see myself in the evening with my brows pretty perfect. AND the price is amazing – mine is the brunette which is a perfect color match for my hair color, and which is currently on Amazon for $5 and change, but it is the most expensive color and the rest are around $3. I can’t recall the last time a cosmetic so cheap gave me so much glee.
I highly recommend this!! If you already are using a brow paint, please inform me, and if you’ve found another miracle cosmetic, please let me know too!

February 4, 2019 at 12:20 pmI highly recommend micro-blading! It has come a long way since scary eyebrow tatoo when I was growing up.

February 4, 2019 at 2:08 pmI second Tee, micro-blading is the way to go! Natural looking shaped brows everyday and no maintenance!

February 4, 2019 at 9:50 pmYes, microblading is the way to go! Just need to find a good one. It is supposed to give an illusion of individual hair against your skin and it lasts for years. Lisa Eldridge had hers done and she doesn’t touch up her brows anymore.

February 4, 2019 at 11:43 pmHah. I’m always the bum because even though I change my clothes each day, you couldn’t really tell because I keep grabbing the same two jackets over and over. It’s always cold! And no, I’m lucky if I remember to slather on the requisite sunblock before I leave the house. Makeup just does not happen anymore. I dropped it years before JB came along. The upside is I’m mostly very comfortable in my natural skin, blemishes and all. Gotta be!

February 6, 2019 at 12:21 pmI love the way microblading looks but am too much of a scaredy cat to try anything semi-permanent. I did finally start agreeing to have my brows dyed when I go in for brow waxes and it’s amazing! But only really lasts a month 🙁
