I recently picked up two gray sweaters that I wanted to share while the weather is still cold – these were both very utilitarian purchases, wear everyday and stay warm and not feel like it’s tight or itchy, which are my main purchasing criteria these days. I wear both of these all the time!
Everlane: Square cashmere v-neck cardigan, $150
I should have reviewed this a while ago, I am sorry! Some of the very small sizes are sold out now but they do come back in stock sporadically if you check. This is one of my favorite schlubby day wears, a simple v-neck cardigan but it’s cut quite open so layers very well and is a more cropped, flattering length. Also, I have to state that my husband dislikes it, it’s one of those sweaters that has a more “architectural” cut which confuses him (why is it loose? but short? blah blah blah). But I love it and there are lots of chic, expensive looking details like the little slit at the edge of the sleeves, and the cashmere is good quality (I’ve had mixed experiences with the Everlane $100 pieces).
Also – I am 5’1 and I took an XS. I rarely take XXS in tops as I have broader shoulders.
Eileen Fisher: Cashmere/silk bell sleeved sweater, $418 ($200 on sale)
So in my opinion, this sweater doesn’t look like much, just a simple sweater, a little bit of a crop and a small bell sleeve but what it has going for it is that it feels amazing on. It is this really great cashmere silk blend and just feels so incredibly soft and cozy. Like really soft fleece…but it’s cashmere! By far my softest, natural fabric sweater. Because of the crop it looks great with high waisted paints.
It’s still full price at Nordstrom but on a good discount on the Eileen Fisher site. I asked Nordstrom to price match and took a size P. Also I have been stalking a few other sweaters in this yarn and they are on sale but have stayed around the 30-40% mark and refuse to go down further (at Bloomingdales here, and Saks here). I think there’s good demand for these sweaters.
Also – based on multiple questions, the jeans are from Madewell (my exact wash isn’t available anymore but the rest of the demi-boot styles are here).
Okay – I’m sorry for the boring post this week but I do get asked for product recommendations and these have been some of my most worn pieces! Have a wonderful week!

January 14, 2019 at 10:15 pmI have had great luck with Eileen Fisher clothing, especially the tunics and dresses. I find her things easy to wear and, because they’re usually simple lines, they’re easy to accessorize…on the rare occasions I’m not too lazy to do so.
