Today I thought I’d do a quick review of a boot I recently picked up that I love – the Everlane Day Boot! I had searched for reviews of this boot online earlier and found very little (except for very PR stuff) so wanted to add my thoughts.
My short boot adventure actually began with the Everlane Boss Boots – I linked these a few weeks ago, and actually thought I’d opt for them, but at the last minute swapped to the Day Boot because I thought they’d be more comfortable. I love the pointy toe on the Boss Boots but what I really wanted my boots for was cold weather outings with the kids, longer city walks, etc – I could see the Boss Boots for walks in SF but not necessarily for chaotic children’s activities so I ended up going with the Day because they looked more comfortable. And they are! I’ve had these for a few weeks and I’ve already worn then quite a few times, once on an outing that was around two miles. Part of what makes them so comfortable is the material – the leather is really soft and thin, more like what you might expect on a thin summer sandal or even a pair of gloves – that buttery nappa feel. Just so you can get an idea of its pliability:
And how they look on – this is the outfit I wore yesterday, be aware that usually I like to tuck in the white tee for proportion but my toddler thinks whenever I attempt a trendy “front tuck” that I’ve put on my pants wrong and yanks my shirt out and I forgot to redo it for the photo. If I was a good blogger I would take the photo again. I am not.
In terms of sizing – I wear my actual size in these, 6.5, and there’s enough room to wear thin/regular socks. The leather is also really soft and I imagine would stretch to fit your foot.
The day boots are $225, which makes them pricier in terms of Everlane’s overall lineup but I did look for quite some time and there’s nothing on the market in the same price point with the same quality and design – these to me had hints of Phoebe Philo and just hit the mark. The front seam bothers me 1% (just personal preference). But overall, if you’re looking for short boots that you can walk in, I would highly recommend checking out the Day Boots, and I’m very pleased to have found these! Also, if you have some magical great short boots (with a modest heel) that you’ve found – please share!

December 10, 2018 at 8:57 amThey look good and definitely more of a daily boot than boss boot. When you mentioned boss boot few weeks ago, I liked them a lot too but I agree 100% that with toddlers comfort is the more important than anything else. Plus I kind of like rounded toe of the day boot. The front seam is hardly noticeable unless of course you could feel it inside.
Thank you for sharing. Mwah!

December 11, 2018 at 12:25 pmI’m not sure if these would appeal to anyone here, but I saw them yesterday at the Ariat store and loved them on sight.
Obviously, they are a very casual boot but perfect for my lifestyle of mostly jeans, and the color knocked me over. They take me back to the early 70’s…..when few of you, or maybe none of you were born yet. Yikes….no internet either! I’m already contemplating going back for another color…. https://two24.ariat.com/P15994_W_FOO.html?dwvar_P15994__W__FOO_color=CORDOVAN

December 11, 2018 at 4:14 pmI went back this afternoon to get a pair in black but my size was sold out. Also sold out in black online. The salesman thinks they might get more in after Christmas because they sold better than expected.
They still have moss green and brown suede. There’s also a white/cream nubuck that reminds me of Elvis in his Vegas days…..

December 11, 2018 at 7:38 pmThat anecdote about your toddler is so cute!
My favourite boots are by a HK label called Staccato — black leather, modest block heel (1 1/2 inch), no front seam and brogue detailing at the back. They were a gift but I reckon I would have been happy to pay for them (I think they cost around $200-$225).
