1. For anyone in the market for a leopard coat – this is a great option, from J.Crew.
I bought this and almost kept it, except that I already have two leopard coats, and didn’t want to go overboard. But it’s a really great option! The leopard print is nice and I love the contrast lining. Also, it’s not too fitted but not too loose, and also comes in a bunch of size options (including tall and petite).
Available from J.Crew but also Nordstrom, and they’ll price match if the same size is in stock.
2. A very sharp piece by the always excellent Vanessa Friedman, about how Victoria’s Secret is trying (or not?) to maintain relevance in today’s world. And by the way, the CEO just announced yesterday that she’s stepping down.
3. A little gossipy piece, via The Cut (and referencing Variety) – what happens when an “Influencer” neglects to influence? Sometimes, they get sued.
4. A great and troubling long form piece via The SF Chronicle: A Life On The Line.
5. This week I re-read an old classic – Anna Karenina, by Leo Tolstoy.
I had probably owned this book for over ten years before I read it. It’s a classic, yes? And occasionally I would read someone say that it was their favorite book, and feel like a failure that I hadn’t read, and then stopped, and gave up. Maybe two years ago I made a very serious attempt and finally got through and yes, I’m really sorry to say, but you should read it. But I mean, you’ve already read it right? Or you have it. I don’t really need to recommend this one, I feel terribly pretentious doing so, it’s like saying you should watch The Godfather, because it’s a totally great film. But I’d love to hear your thoughts on Anna Karenina.

November 16, 2018 at 1:08 pmLove the story but I don’t think I have the patience and time to read the book. Glad was able to catch the Anna Karenina by Mariinsky Ballet, Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg this summer. A superb performance.

November 17, 2018 at 8:40 amBooks are always, ALWAYS better than the movie! I read Anna as a young teen, and still pull it out every year or so to see how far along I can get without being all “…yeah, I remember that part being the pits, never mind…”
VS still have some of the best sportswear – leggings, bras – out there, hands-down, I swear. I lived in L-Brands world many moons ago, and they definitely have a presence in Ohio. Not sure there’s much they can do to compete in this environment, though.
*retreats to stock up on VS

November 18, 2018 at 2:10 pmI should have made this clear – I’ve been working on this one for nearly a month, it’s my “second option” on my nightstand. Lately I’ve been a 2-3 book at a time person, which makes it slower but for some reason I’m enjoying the process!

November 18, 2018 at 10:01 amSe the movie and read the book if you like the movie. It’s long, powerful and has a deep that makes it a really god book. You will see the love story first time, the powerty the second and something else the third time. Read it please.

I’ve had Anna Karenina for years but have
yet to read it?. I’ll make time. The Godfather is so good! So is The Sicilian.
I read Sharp Objects. It was good too.
