1. This week I’ve been eyeing this linen crop jumpsuit, which comes at a great price, via BP (yes that BP, from Nordstrom).
I have been very into linen this season. I’ve always loved linen, but it seems like it’s everywhere this season. With so many cute options! And I know when something is trendy that I’ve always liked, I should take advantage, so I’ve definitely been stocking up. This little jumpsuit is adorable and I think will look great even with a little bra showing, and the price is wonderful. What else could you want?
2. A great piece, via NY Mag, about the rise and fall of Vice. Were you ever a Vice reader/watcher? Are you still?
3. My favorite article, discovered this week, via The Coveteur – what does an Editor in Chief buy to celebrate a promotion? Stellene Volandes has GREAT taste in jewelry and this article series made me want to approach my buying like a collector (now if only I had the budget to match).
4. A fascinating article, via The Business of Fashion, about how Marc Jacobs Fell Out of Fashion. This is so interesting to me. Don’t we all remember that era of Marc? Didn’t we all have something – in my case it was multiple pairs of shoes, a big shawl, and a skirt. I treasured each one. Buying it was an experience. What happened?
5. This week I’m recommending an older (and semi-controversial favorite): Tampa, by Alissa Nutting.
I first read this book years ago when it came out, and I have to confess that at the time, I was a little nervous to recommend it. Mostly because of the subject matter – this is a very graphic, but superbly written, first person account of a young female English teacher who targets adolescent boys. You know every time you see an item in the news about some female teacher who has been fired for having “inappropriate relations” with one of their students? Tampa takes you into the mind of one of these teachers. It’s a driven, often disgust inducing, always fascinating book that keeps you turning the pages and also brings to mind the very pertinent question of why in society we have a double standard for the women who do such things versus men. If you are okay with the content, which can be very graphic, I can’t recommend Tampa highly enough. And the writing as I said is amazing.

June 22, 2018 at 7:37 amThat linen jumpsuit looks perfect for those hot sweltering days! I’ve added Tampa to my to-read list, the reviews sound good but we’ll see if I can finish it. It sounds disturbing.

June 22, 2018 at 9:43 amThe article about Stellane’s jewelry collection, and the accompanying photos, was fascinating. I am not, however, a huge fan of contemporary jewelry but it certainly suits her.

June 22, 2018 at 5:28 pmI enjoyed the article about Stellene’s jewelry collection, though I also don’t favor her style, I do love her philosophy, and I also love gold!
My first luxury bag was the Star bag, and I still have it because the purse and wallet were a birthday present from my husband and daughter. It’s still a gorgeous purse with its iconic design and buttery luxe leather. I agree I think of MJ along the lines of Coach rather than Tom Ford. I hope Marc Jacobs can fix whatever ails the brand. Thanks for the great post and links!
