1. This week I have been eyeing shoes (again, always) – this time, a pair of colorful Gucci loafers.
I wear my existing Gucci loafers a fair amount, and lately I’ve been totally yearning for a pair of statement shoes. I am very close to pulling the trigger on these sandals, but I also wanted something more practical. And what’s more practical than loafers? If I have a “statement” color it’s usually either a true red or jade green – both of these shades, I’ve found, just make me happy and go very well with blacks and whites and grays, which are the predominant neutrals in my wardrobe.
2. A short and sweet interview with Karen Katz, the former CEO of Neiman Marcus, with some career advice and how revenge can propel you forward.
3. Yet another great article from Vanessa Friedman, via The NY Times, about what fashion life after Anna Wintour would look like. It was only after saving the photo to use as a preview that I realized who the people paying obeisance are. Oh.
4. Do you play the lotto? I enjoyed this long article via The Huffington Post, about gaming the lottery system (aka my dream).
5. This week, I read Broken Harbour, by Tana French.
You know, I’ve tried to get into Tana French for the longest time. I was very frustrated, because from how she was described (crime fiction, excellent writing, female (yeah!!) author) she would be perfect for me. Yet I couldn’t get into her first, Into The Woods. Finally someone suggested I start with Broken Harbour, which could be read as a standalone (unlike some of the others) which require some continuity in reading), and so I gave it a try and finally, I understand that Tana French magic. The writing! The story! The suspense! A fantastic thriller and one of the best I’ve read in recent memory. Highly recommend Broken Harbour.

April 13, 2018 at 10:14 amGood morning – i love Tana French. I’ve been reading her for the last 10 years and just recently re read The Likeness. The last paragraph just broke my heart, i dont remember it doing it to me when i first read it:) You have some wonderful reading ahead of you. All of her novels are actually standalones, they just focus on different people from the same “crowd”, basically. Happy weekend!
