Weekend Update

1. Today I’m sharing the prettiest shirtdress which I’ve pre-ordered already, from J.Crew.

I think this is my favorite item I’ve seen J.Crew come out with in a while. You know I really love it because I ordered it even though it doesn’t qualify for any code (this, while there’s an up to 40% off code ongoing! Which by the way I’d use on this open sweater jacket, if I didn’t already own it). I just love everything about this dress – the button down front, the knit, the gorgeous tipping. This is like Reformation for those who have to go to the office in my opinion. Gorgeous!!

2. Thank you to Bee, who alerted me to this article, via Vox, summarizing the ongoing “skincare wars”. Did you know that this was a battle currently going on in our cultural zeitgeist? Some very interesting points here, especially in terms of how marketing frames aging to us.

3. Love this interview with Marie Kondo, via The Cut. I remain a Kondo fan girl. I even just ordered these little leather cases she designed, just because I love her so much (thanks J for the tip!)

5. This week I tore through my latest reading – Sometimes I Lie, by Alice Feeney.

Sometimes I Lie is a thriller, much in the vein of Gone Girl and The Woman In The Window. And I just to have to say…that I really enjoyed it. It’s been a while that I’ve read a thriller that I enjoy not just for the plot but also for the writing…which is very, very, very well done here.

I am the sort of person who would rather have a book be confusing than be able to guess all the twists…at times Sometimes I Lie was definitely confusing. But I loved it. And it genuinely surprised me. Highly recommended!
