This week is the seventh anniversary of Feather Factor. Seven!! I can’t believe it.
For some reason, seven years just seems like such a long period for me. In the past year quite a lot has changed for me, yet sometimes I feel like nothing has changed in my day to day at all. I’m still changing a ton of diapers. I’m still begging a small being to eat their food at every meal. I continue to do a lot of laundry. I’m still wanting quite a few totally impractical jewelry pieces (Van Cleef please tell us what you are doing for the 50th anniversary, already!).
Yet there’s been a lot of changes too, which I’m excited to share in the coming year.
It’s funny but one of the recurring questions I get year after year is – is blogging over? Should I still bother starting a blog? To which I always reply well if blogging is over I’m basically that corpse still pecking at the keyboard, and if you want to start a blog – absolutely yes, you should. Are you nervous? You can always delete. You’re private? Just make it so only you can view the entries. Impatient for fame and fortune? Well I don’t know how I can help with that…but you’ll never know unless you try, right?
The older I get and the older this blog becomes, the less I worry about what the world thinks and the more I’m just happy to have this little corner of the universe where I get to share and interact with all of you. Thank you all for reading here, whether you’ve been reading all along or recently joined. Please let me know what you would like to see more of. Because this site wouldn’t be what it is without… you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you (and one photo of the kids, below).

March 6, 2018 at 3:49 pmToday is the second anniversary of her departure. A euphemism for sure but I can’t bring myself to type the other words.
Katherine
March 6, 2018 at 8:26 pmI cannot believe it has been two years. I think departure is a fitting word, because on the other side there’s an arrival.

March 5, 2018 at 2:30 pmHappy blog anniversary. I particularly enjoy the articles you link and your book recommendations. They have often been on topics I would not have discovered myself. I still remember reading “Dear Leader” by Jin-Sung Jang after reading your blog, the first book about Korea I ever read.
Katherine

Like many others, I look forward to your weekend updates and your perspective on various current issues. Of course seeing cute pics of the little ones are also fun too! But honestly, nothing beats meeting you in person… at one of my fav weekend lunch restaurants. 🙂 Happy Blog Birthday!!

March 5, 2018 at 6:45 pmHi Katherine, thank you for sharing pieces of your life and thoughts on this blog. I enjoy it mainly because you maintain a good balance of practicality, self awareness, and fun materialism in your posts that I can relate to. Perhaps we are at the same stages of our lives (I’m a working professional currently pregnant with my secondment child) and reading your posts gives me a sense of … familiarity? I look forward to the Friday posts and random ones through out the week. Don’t stop blogging!!
Katherine
March 6, 2018 at 11:19 amThank you! I admire you so much for being a working mom and pregnant to boot. Congratulations!

March 5, 2018 at 7:44 pmcongrats! as many have said, your blog is really the only one I consistently read. I come on here about 5-6 times/week just to see if I am lucky enough to stumble upon a new post. I love the shopping and book recommendations. The last 5 books I have read have come from recommendations from you so thank you 🙂 I also love the luxury posts because we all love a little H and VCA now and then. I will be back tomorrow; until then…

March 6, 2018 at 11:20 amHi Isabel, thank you so much! I usually post on Monday (Tues if its a holiday) and Fridays right now 🙂

March 5, 2018 at 7:49 pmHi Katherine,
Happy Birthday to little man! I can’t believe he is already seven! I have been following you for years, before he was born. Its funny, but your blog is the only one a read every monday and friday. I think a lot of people have moved to instagram now and I am still one of those who likes to read something along with the pictures and browse through your shopping links. Now that I also have a 2yo I like you posts about anything baby/toddler related and of course reviews, fashion, travel and books. it always amazes me how you manage to read as much as you do. I literally read two lines and fall asleep.
Keep it up!
Your boys are absolutely adorable!
Mila
March 5, 2018 at 7:53 pmso sorry, I read it wrong. its blog birthday. For some reason it crossed my mind that the age difference between two boys was a little less but I did not put it all together until I posted previous reply.
Katherine
March 6, 2018 at 11:20 amHi Mila!! And no problem 🙂 You will get your reading energy back one day, promise!

March 5, 2018 at 8:37 pmThank you for writing such a wonderful blog and sharing yourself with all of us! I always look forward to Monday and Friday so I can read your content! It’s a small happy moment for me, twice a week :). I found your blog because I was looking for a review on the Hermes Evelyne bag and now, an Evelyne bag later for me, I still love all your product reviews. You have impeccable taste and are a great writer, so the reviews are so informative and entertaining to read. Please continue that! I also have three small children (5, 3 and 5 months) and work full-time in the Tech industry, so I also love all your Mom/family related posts 🙂

March 6, 2018 at 11:21 amI admire anyone with three children – AND you work full time! I bow down! Thank you so much for reading 🙂

March 6, 2018 at 6:24 amYour blog is one and only surviving blog which I follow from TPF. Please continue blogging and yes, you are right, who cares about what others think, if they don’t like it then don’t follow or read the blog.
I enjoy reading your thoughts and still listing over your handbag collection.
Keep it up, Katherine.

March 6, 2018 at 11:22 amThank you so much! I’m so flattered that you still continue to read 🙂 And I still love to visit TPF!

March 6, 2018 at 9:10 amYour blog has always been my fav! I think I’ve been following you for at least 6 of those 7 years. I do miss your fashion/outfit of the day posts and loved those interviews that you did with other people. I know those take time and effort so it’s understandable that you took a step away from doing them.
Katherine
March 6, 2018 at 11:23 amThank you for reading for so long! And yes they did take time…but I might have a few coming up later 🙂

March 7, 2018 at 8:00 pmHappy Anniversary! The children are wonderful! I don’t know how long I’ve been reading, but it was WAY before the children! I enjoy reading about the luxury items, even if I don’t indulge, but most of all I love the articles. Entertaining and informative…not that common in a blog.
I will continue as long as you do!

March 7, 2018 at 8:31 pmCongratulations on seven years of blogging! When I started reading your blog ages ago, I was living on the East Coast. But now I’m in the Bay Area and somehow your posts seem even more relevant. I’ve enjoyed your book reviews and I frequently refer to your travel posts, especially the ones about packing and logistics/tips for international travel. Thank you for being stylish, true and honest. I’ll continue to look forward to your posts each time they come up in my reader.

March 12, 2018 at 10:48 amHappy Anniversary! You are the only blog that i still read ALWAYS. I will be very sad the day you decide to stop writing. I always use your travel reviews for reference, and i always pay attention to your book choices. Your kids related posts are always interesting as my kid is just half a year younger than your boy and i made a purchase at your shop once;) All in all, it’s been great relationship::):)
