1. The bag I’m currently eyeing – especially as spring rolls in? This leather “Bellechasse” bag from Saint Laurent, in the tan colorway.
There’s just something I like so much about this bag. It’s kind of like the Celine Box + Hermes Constance + some existing Saint Laurent style, no? The crossbody to shoulder is just so useful and the color is gorgeous for year round (but I especially like it for summer). It fits enough for daily essentials, has a gorgeous suede interior, and the strap is wide enough to be comfortable. I first saw this bag in the canvas and leather version and was very drawn to it, but then thought I might look for an all leather version since I’d worry about the light canvas…and voila! Highly, highly tempted by this one. Tops on my wishlist for spring, along with this Loewe raffia tote a dear friend just showed me and which I now find myself wanting quite badly (of course sold out everywhere).
2. One of my favorite fashion writers, Robin Givhan, and her very smart (and satisfyingly critical) review of the latest Ralph Lauren runway show. Does anyone dress like this anymore? She makes an excellent point, though I have to admit I have a soft spot for that American flag sweater.
3. A total 1%-er article about some turbulence in the Upper East Side New York dining scene, via The NY Times.
4. Okay a totally unnecessary Page Six article about Elon Musk and alleged sex parties in Silicon Valley. Yes I had to link yet, yes I know most of you will read it.
5. This week I’m reading Force of Nature, by Jane Harper.
I know that quite a few of you liked The Dry, which I also recommended on the blog less than a year ago. Force of Nature is Harper’s follow up, and features the same federal agent, Aaron Falk, again in a compelling Australian setting, but this time in the mountains a short distance from Melbourne, where five women go for a nature hike. A fantastic whodunnit/mystery/thriller, with the same smart writing as The Dry. Recommended!

February 23, 2018 at 9:36 amLoved The Dry and looking forward to Harper’s new book! I can’t stop buying books, so my pile keeps growing.!
Love the SL bag and have a bag-related question for you! How do you determine when you buy new bags? The reason I ask is that you seem to have alot of bags. I do as well, but I try to not buy multiple bags used for the same purpose (ie: multiple small crossbodies). This has started to break down for me lately, as I am finding myself lusting after similar-use bags by different brands. Ugh. I seem to remember that you sell your bags from time to time? I don’t do that, so I try to keep my collection at a usable number.
What’s your thinking on this?
Thanks, Katherine!

February 23, 2018 at 8:52 pmYou know, I used to try to buy for specific occasion/use and I’ve gotten REALLY BAD at this, especially after kids. Now I kind of want to buy just to please myself. I do purge my collection once in a while to keep it to a manageable number…I’ve gotten a few questions, so maybe I’ll do a longer post on this??

February 25, 2018 at 6:51 pmI always enjoy the Ralph Lauren aesthetic. It just needs to be adapted to each individual’s look. I don’t think he means for anyone to wear his looks head to toe by the the number. His wife Rickie is a total beauty queen. I would love to own a Rickie bag! Sadly , I stopped buying bags in that price range.
The ysl bag is gorgeous! Love the color! I find that I most always purchase things(bags, etc.) in similar styles. I know I need a new bag like a need a hole in the head. Old habits die hard!
