1. This week, I’m sharing these excellent leather espadrilles, from Bottega Veneta.
I resisted the “expensive espadrille” trend for many years, and the net effect is that I basically ended up buying the Chanel pair that everyone has about four years after everyone else. Yes they are really expensive for what they are, but isn’t that kind of designer goods in general? And at least you know the cost per wear will be good. I love this Bottega pair – especially the perfect summer color! And the little elastic inset to help mold around your foot.
2. A fascinating and intimate read by Stacy London about her Year Of Going Broke. I admire her for being so open and honest.
3. I’m sure some have already read this Louise Linton profile in Elle by now – what do you think? I actually think this article was meant to help rehabilitate her image somewhat – the photoshoot certainly shows her in a softer light (instead of say, the one I chose to include above).
4. I know quite a few of you out there like these sorts of articles (as do I). Via The Cut – How Four Different Couples Save Money.
5. This week, I’m sharing Everything Here is Beautiful, by Mira T Lee.
At its heart, Everything Here Is Beautiful is a book about the relationship between two sisters – one who struggles with mental illness, and the other who cares for her sibling and wants her to be well, but also wants to freely live her own life. Along the way, you meet a host of other characters – mothers, husbands, boyfriends, each of them richly and realistically drawn. Recommended, especially if you’ve been looking for a thoughtful and very well written drama.
