Before I made my 2018 Wardrobe Resolutions this year, I bought this Anya Hindmarch pouch, just in case one of my resolutions was going to be “don’t purchase less unnecessary stuff”. It ended up not making my list anyway, but I’m glad I got this little Anya goodie it early. I’ve already started using it. And as a bonus, it amuses my baby.
I have a general weakness for pouches – I have always envisioned myself as the sort of person who has everything in their bag and life organized in nice little containers and bags. This isn’t really true, but I use pouches enough that I am able to justify them. And I couldn’t resist this Anya Hindmarch Happy Face pouch (there’s also a gloomy face one by the way, which I think more accurately reflects my mood these days, but I have to role model positive energy for the children). I love too many items that Anya Hindmarch produces, probably because it’s kind of like a Sanrio but more expensive for grown up. Don’t you think?
I’m currently using this as a cosmetics bag, but it could even be used as a little diaper essentials/notebook + pen + receipts caddy + travel/passport wallet, etc. The two zips are very useful for that and inside the “mouth” curved pocket there is a little divider as well. Even though I love my pouch, I do have to warn that it appears to be the sort of item that men instantly dislike. I thought my husband would find it cute and charming, but instead he seems to find it unnerving. His first reaction:
Husband: What. Is. This.
Me: A smiley face pouch! You see how the zipper is also the mouth? Do you think it’s cool?
Husband (ignoring my comment): Was this expensive?
Me: …no
Husband: Then why does it come with its own dustbag?
It’s my own fault that he knows what a dustbag is since he’s had to pick up bags on order for me multiple times. But no regrets! This purchase was unnecessary, but makes me smile.
Have you purchased anything like that lately?

January 8, 2018 at 10:20 amYour new Anya pouch makes me smile! I love it! I had three things on my wish list for this year. I thought two would not be so easy to find (Hermes) but I found them both in the space of a couple of weeks! So, I’m taking a break from shopping and it’s only January 8th 🙂

January 8, 2018 at 12:35 pmSuch a coincidence. I recently got an Anya Hindmarch Makeup pouch and posted about it only yesterday. She has a sense of quirkiness. My makeup bag reads Take-Off and Touch Down on each side. Here is a my post, if you are interested

January 9, 2018 at 3:09 amLove your hubby’s reaction!
I find the anya pouches really cute but not suitaable for my purposes. I like my pouches to be washable. I have taken to using lesport sac’s. My mom shakes her head at my Mickey mouse pouch. Am still sad I was too slow (can’t keep up with the young ones!) & missed out on the snoopy, little men, Alice in wonderland versions…

January 9, 2018 at 5:15 pmHilarious! Agree, as I get older I don’t give a damn anymore what people think and am happy to indulge in purchases that just put a smile on my face. This was one is so goofy silly, I can see how it lifts your mood every time you take it out!

January 10, 2018 at 1:00 amOh no, gloomy face?! I hope that this too shall pass. Building and looking after a young family is hard, and thankless, and gloomy, sometimes. Especially after a grown up career. Glad you found a lovely pouch to smile about! I’m a bit obsessed with them myself. Have you checked out Charlotte Olympia’s ones? They are a bit luxe and actually have a 3/4 inch ish base so sit up nicely, and one of her tiger ones lives in my Double Sens.

January 10, 2018 at 4:58 pmI love your description of Anya Hindmarch as grown up Sanrio- that really hit a spot for me! I love a good pouch, whether or not I can find a use for it (what is it with itty bitty bags that makes them so alluring??). Do you have any recommendations for key pouches? Something to cover your keys while they’re in your purse. I originally got the Longchamp Le Pliage coin purse but it’s a little too bulky inside of my Soho Disco bag.

January 12, 2018 at 4:26 amAww, why would men dislike this purse? I say, be surrounded by whatever makes you smile, even if it’s a silly smiling bag!
