I hope you had a great weekend, and happy belated Mother’s Day for those mamas out there! It felt awesome to be able to be a mom on this holiday for the first time, although after having a child, I’ve realized holidays are very different now. I wake up by 630 AM each morning to baby Feather’s babbles….and our dinner reservations which used to be at 8 PM or later are now closer to 530 PM. But I don’t mind…the earlier to bed, the better!
By request, I’ve been trying to document more of my daily wear. And since summer is just around the corner, I thought I’d share with you some of what I’ve been wearing lately for warm weather…here we go!
I love lace up tops, but quite a few of them always look a bit 70’s on me, especially once worn. And, a lot of the tops I found were polyester and looked a little cheap. That’s why I was happy to find this lace up tee from Madewell…and I actually paid full price for it (I usually would wait for a sale). I just knew I’d get a ton of use out of it – the material is super soft and comfortable, and the lace up detail is well done. Its also really easy to adjust the ties, so that you could wear a regular bra underneath without it showing, if you wanted.
I would mention that I found this top ran large – I could have probably gone with an XXS, but I stuck with my usual XS because I preferred the longer length. It’s my favorite casual top currently!
Also I know I mentioned these Lucky sandals in one of my weekend updates -here’s a closer look at them. They’re a very simple, comfortable summer sandal. And well priced at $80. I took my true size.
I’m a huge sucker for light airy white dresses, and this season there seems to be quite a few! I’d been eyeing the Joie Bittern dress for quite a while, but the fact that it was silk was making me hesitate…I’d be too afraid of stains. When I saw the Laton style come out, I was very happy – all cotton, making it very comfortable on the hottest of days, and machine washable! Woo.
I really like this dress, though I had to do a few tries for it – my “true” size, XS, was a little too poofy for my height, so this is an XXS. I think if I were taller though, I’d probably get the XS. If you’re a fan of pretty white dresses, I’d definitely try out this one (or the Bittern, which I think is beautiful, as long as you’re OK with silk!). I bought mine from Nordstrom – they priced matched Saks, which has the dress for 40% off for a limited time. The only place that seems to have XXS remaining however, is Shopbop.
I found these Vince Camuto sandals when I was looking for a pair of lace up sandals that also had a lower heel, and wouldn’t cut off my leg too much…a tall order, I know. I’d seen these Vince Camuto sandals on display at Nordstrom a bunch of times, and didn’t think they look liked much on display.
I tried them on though, and realized that I quite liked them…they matched with my navy blue dress I had on that day, and so I took them home. Since then, I’ve realized that they pretty much match with everything – and, they’re very comfortable too! I’d highly recommend giving these a try if you’re looking for comfortable lace up sandals which aren’t too high. The bootie style makes them versatile for fall, too. I also found these true to size.
Looking at these photos, I realize that I need to wear my Gizehs less…as I’ve got some crazy tan lines on my feet! Whoops! Also my polish is Essie (A-List).

I recognized your Gizeh tan before I read your commentary on it. I chuckled because I have the same! It’s such an awkward tan line- I’ve been trying to rotate my sandals so I don’t make it worse 🙂

May 9, 2016 at 11:02 amHappy happy first Mother’s Day! It not always a relaxing holiday for moms, but it is wonderful nonetheless!
On another note, I want to thank you for your helpful posts and comparison of the different size Hermes Bolide. I added a vintage one to my collection last week and I love it! I read your Bolide-related posts as part of my pre-purchase research and they were very, very helpful!
Happy Mother’s Day to you and all the moms,
Jane

May 9, 2016 at 11:42 amI enjoy reading your recommendations. I picked up the JCrew frayed chambray shorts a few weeks ago based on your suggestion and now I may get those Vince Camuto sandals!

May 9, 2016 at 8:27 pmLove that Madewell top! I was actually planning on buying it and then that colorway sold out before it hit sale and now it’s backordered. 🙁 I don’t like the navy color quite as much (though I imagine the navy isn’t as see-through as the ivory is).

May 10, 2016 at 5:24 amI have the Madewell top – love it! I didn’t know it came in Navy…but I don’t think the ivory is all that see-through…
Also…I’m nowhere near an XXS or XS…and it looks good on me too!
