While I’m waiting to (hopefully) fit back into some of the clothes I’ve bought this season, I thought I would share some accessories I recently picked up. Some of these I’ve shared on my Instagram already, but I wanted to give a more in depth review. My latest Nordstrom Anniversary purchases are still in transit and/or backordered, which is fine as it’s a zillion degrees here in California and I’m most excited about a cotton sleep shirt (cute, huh?) anyway. But because of that, everything I have today to share happens to be from Hermes!
First up is a new shawl in what is my absolute favorite new silk scarf/cashmere shawl design of the fall season – Tyger Tyger, by the artist Alice Shirley. Isn’t it just gorgeous? It comes in a bunch of beautiful colorways.
Something that Hermes does really well which I’ve always loved is support various artists and champion their work. I love following specific favorite artists – Kermit Oliver is one, and Alice Shirley is the latest! I bought another shawl she designed last season (Zebra Pegasus, you can see a peek of it here) and love it, it’s the perfect companion for my gray/green Kelly bag. Since I got a colorful Shirley design earlier, I decided to opt for the black/white/gray version for my new shawl.
If anyone is looking for a beautiful silk scarf or cashmere/silk shawl from Hermes this season…I’d highly recommend Tyger Tyger! You can see all of the colorways here. I adore that you can have tie the scarf to have more of an animal print detail sticking out, or more floral. And the colorful versions are so gorgeous.
The next item up is one that was actually on my 2015 spring purchase list – an Hermes Silk In wallet.
I love, love these wallets and the silk lining! I was actually after a longer version (and still am lusting after this sapphire blue one in the Brazil print), but Mr. Feather ended up picking this one out, which was fine with me as I use compact ones more. I think men tend to gravitate towards tone on tone prints, I probably would have been attracted to something a bit more wild with contrast. But I love this one, very subtle and Rouge H is one of my favorite Hermes colors ever.
By the way – my other favorite compact wallet is this embossed one from Comme des Garcons, and the Silk In is pretty close height and length wise but more sleek/slim, for those looking for wallet options for small bags.
The Silk In wallets are also a nice price point for Hermes – almost half the price of some of their other wallets, due to the non leather lining. I think they make a great gift.
Finally, I wanted to share my first piece of Hermes silver in many years. To be honest, I’ve always found the brand’s silver to be quite expensive (more than say, Tiffany). But I can’t deny that it’s really high quality, the pieces always feel heavy and solid. And the designs are gorgeous of course! My piece? A narrow Collier de Chien bracelet (you may remember me mentioning it’s much larger cousin, the sterling “regular” Collier de Chien, in this post).
I love this bracelet and think its one of the most versatile silver pieces that Hermes has released. It’s thin enough to wear everyday, yet doesn’t look too “delicate” – when you try it on, there’s a decent heft.
I also love that the bracelet comes in a wide variety of sizes, from XS – XL, so lots of choices. Since this is a bangle that opens and closes over the wrist, it’s important to get the perfect size for your wrist. I took a size small, by the way. I have a small wrist but it’s oval shaped, so I tend to go a size up from how I measure for comfort. I take between a 16/17 in the Cartier Love bracelets as another measure.
I wear this bracelet lots, even in the heat, and it never feels heavy or sticky (gross). Definitely a purchase I’m very happy with!
What have been some of your favorite spring accessory purchases so far? Also I’d love to hear about any other Nordstrom Anniversary buys that have either worked out or not for you so far…so I can place any last minute orders of course! Please share.

July 28, 2015 at 10:21 amI went crazy with scarves last winter…..crazy insane buying. One I had to have and ended up buying….Hermes, a propos de bottes. I had to have that one in particular because of my riding. My larger purchases have been two Chanel jackets and some exotic skin handbags. I don’t know about you, but shopping is truly a sickness for me, LOL! I am forever buying and I am just not happy if there is nothing on the way, which is hardly ever.
There is one other out there like me, my sister. If our husbands die off before we do, we said we would live in the old folks home together and be switching out our stuff right and left. Alas, it is, what it is!!!!!

July 28, 2015 at 8:39 pmHi, Katherine: I’m Whitney’s sister and she’s got that right. We’re too old to change and too young to want to!

July 28, 2015 at 1:44 pmhi kat, i always enjoy keeping up with your updates. the silk in wallets are my next conquer. i felt it was very hermes-y with their famous silk profited interior. i read some reviews on the insides of H wallets feeling “sticky” against their cards, which is understood with the nature of leather lining. silk would be a perfect interior for wallet and to creme this, the price of silk ins are much less than those of full leather built. thats a jackpot.
your silver bracelet is beautiful! i might try that on my next visit to H. I have a love and hate relationship with my cartier love bangles, just because its so nasty to put on and off. when i wear them, they stay on for a month and then i get tired of and they are off for 2 months, and i love them again and the cycle continues. if this silver bracelet is easier to wear on and off it might be my dream bangle.
i want to add here again how much i enjoy reading your updates. you are a reasonable shopper and not a fashion victim (hahaha thats an over used ancient word isn’t it?) and i most often agree with your picks.
i wish you a good delivery, you will see other side of universe when you have children. hugs

July 28, 2015 at 2:47 pmYour recent acquisitions are great! Hope you enjoy them. I have a Zebra Pegasus shawl too in a bright color & want the Tyger shawl. I’m naturally drawn to the cw you purchased. However, the colors are striking so I want to think a bit before I buy. I also have the Bourganvillia/sangles combo silk in and love your Rouge H. If I knew about that one I may have bought it instead. Red is my favorite color. Enjoy your bracelet. It looks wonderful on your arm.
Best wishes for the remainder of your pregnancy. Have a good l&d. It is a wonderful experience,
Katherine
July 29, 2015 at 7:49 amYour wallet sounds beautiful. There are so many tempting colorways of Tyger Tyger out there….I am afraid I might end up with multiple colorways!

July 28, 2015 at 3:51 pmThe Tyger shawl is absolutely gorgeous! I love the gold tone one! 🙂
I have the CDC narrow bangle. I always loved the CDC design but every time I tried it on, it just doesn’t feel right, primarily due to the size. This was perfect. I ended up wearing it almost daily.
Congrats on your purchases!

July 28, 2015 at 4:09 pmI too love the Tyger Tyger print – I just got a silk scarf and the larger silk/cashmere scarf too but in the bourdeaux color. I’m also a tiger in the Chinese zodiac so definitely a plus!
I use my compact Silk In wallet everyday….it’s a perfect size to fit in my white lab coat when I make newborn rounds in the hospital. The larger one is great for weekend and travel use and I love how they are so light weight!
Several birkins later….I decided to purchase a Kelly. Your post on Kellys was what won me over! I just got a 32 Kelly Retourne in Colvert – a great color since I did not have any blue/green tone birkins.
Hopefully you are able to get some rest as the baby approaches….I remember the worst part of the end of both my pregnancies was having to pee all the time!

July 29, 2015 at 7:41 amI’m so glad you got your Kelly! Colvert is gorgeous and so versatile, you can wear it with both cool and warm tones. Enjoy it!

Not sure I would ever want to purchase something from Hermes…

July 30, 2015 at 6:48 amAm I allowed to chime in? Hermes is one of the most responsible companies out there, with excellent business ethics. Personally though, I never buy anything made from so called “exotics” crocodile, lizard, Python etc. they are causing huge environmental issues no matter which designer house flaunts them. Of course fur is another thing to be avoided at all costs, the cruelty is just unbelievable and everyone should be encouraged to research this.

July 29, 2015 at 9:02 pmI am sending you happy thoughts for a safe delivery and healthy baby, Katherine! Great accessories choices by the way. I love H silver and have the all silver CDC bracelet on my wish list. Have been on the fence between the narrow version that you have and the cuff that you didn’t get along with. Yours seems to be a lot more versatile and may just be the one I get for this year. Also, when you get a chance, can you let me know how much use you are getting from your Tyger shawl? I love the black/white cw and am trying to decide between that and the black/white Zebra Pegasus shawl. Thanks!
Katherine
July 29, 2015 at 9:52 pmHi Trang, the black/white Zebra Pegasus may be hard to find…not sure though! To be honest I’ve gotten very little use out of my Tyger so far…it’s 90 degrees where I am, and that + my pregnancy are making me sooo hot all the time with no need for shawls currently!

July 31, 2015 at 3:30 pmI saw your post and immediately snagged the shawl. The print is gorgeous and you are right, there were soooo many gorgeous colorways.

August 1, 2015 at 10:43 amI’m so glad you like it!! Which colorway did you get?

August 5, 2015 at 11:15 amI’m back to let you know that the shawl arrived last night and it is gorgeous. Definitely one of my favorite purchases this year. I’m not sure how the CW system works but I think I have 04 ( the same one in your post). I absolutely love it!
