1. Thanks so much to everyone for your lovely words and great advice over our baby announcement. I’ve felt like I’ve gotten so much bigger in size in the last few weeks, and have been trying to shop for new loose items that would also work for after the baby (yes the holy grail of maternity shopping). I’ve already had a lot of flops but wanted to share one of the hits that I would love even without a giant belly – this great Free People tunic!
Free People technically advertises this as a slip/dress, but I think only the bravest of souls (with toned muscles) could wear this standalone as a dress. Layered as a slip, or as a long top over pants or shorts, (which is how I’ve been wearing it) it’s adorable, with plenty of loose layers without looking like a tent. It looks great layered with a cami under or pretty bra. Recommended!
2. If you haven’t been following Paris Fashion Week (I haven’t, I just wait until people send me texts of especially nice looks or when Chanel salespeople send me photos if items I can’t afford), this is a great summary and opinion piece by Vanessa Friedman, via the NY Times. It not only covers a few of the most popular collections, but also delves into a deeper discussion on staging, versus style.
3. I usually try not to link to multiple articles from the same source, but had to share this piece also from the NY Times, about “Revenge Retail Gone Awry” – delving into why C. Wonder, the brand by Tory Burch’s ex-husband, ultimately failed. A great piece for anyone interested in fashion, business, or even…relationships!
4. I’ve been a bit lazy with my reading this week – lots of work and plus I downloaded some wretched 1010! game on my phone and can’t stop playing it. A friend recently returned my copy of Jacqueline Susann’s Valley Of The Dolls to me, and I was reminded of how much I like it.
Total camp to be sure, but still I think a classic and uniquely reflective of the era. I have almost all of Jacqueline Susann’s books and sometimes I wish she’d write something a little funnier with a very happy ending – chick lit. But then I guess it wouldn’t be a Jacqueline Susann novel. Enjoy!

March 13, 2015 at 8:44 amHi Katherine, congrats on your pregnancy! As a petite Asian woman, most maternity styles from conventional stores didn’t fit me. One of my favorite items was this Vince silk shift dress, available in many patterns and colors. Not something I would normally wear, but super comfortable during pregnancy. I’m pregnant with #2 so keep us posted on your other great finds!

March 13, 2015 at 11:00 amJacqueline Susann died in 1974. I don’t think comedic chick-lit novels were popular back when she was writing! I’d say the closest to modern-day chick-lit would have to be Erica Jong’s ‘Fear of Flying,’ which came out in 1973.

March 15, 2015 at 10:47 amHi Katherine! I’m preparing for a trip to Thailand and am slightly terrified of the jet lag and general time to get there 🙂 I’ve done long flights before, but not quite this long. I took a look at your in flight beauty essentials post, but I’d love to hear if anything has changed? Any updates/tips? Thanks!
