The Hermes Mini Bolide

Today I wanted to share with you a recent bag acquisition – this very cute Hermes mini Bolide.

This bag purchase was totally spontaneous. It wasn’t on my list at all! I’d been seeing photos of this little bag around for about a year and always thought it was cute…but never really thought too much. Really, I have enough bags (don’t we all?). And then, suddenly, I basically had to have it. Likely stress shopping.

And…I love it! I have to admit that I’m 100% on board with the mini bag trend. Kind of late to it, yes, but I think mini bags are not only super cute, but also really fit my lifestyle at the moment, as I’m always running around at playgrounds, etc and dislike having a large bag swinging from my shoulder as I wrestle somebody down from the slide. I love mini bags because I can tuck them into my tote/backpack and take them out with my valuables as needed…leaving my giant tote filled with wipes and random snack containers abandoned on the bench. Though to be fair the Bolide isn’t that great for running around – due to its structure it’s harder to quickly stuff into a bag than say, the Halzan. But it also has a zip, which makes up for it (and to be honest, I think any mamas with young kids need multiple crossbody options).

Mine is black chevre, gold hardware, which is my #1 ideal combination for almost any Hermes (and probably a major reason why I had to have this).

What it fits: my wallet, my phone, keys, lipstick/chapstick, tissues, sunglasses in a sleeve. Not too much but not too little either (more than the TPM Evelyne, about the same amount as the mini Halzan). Please note that this is the mini Bolide – not the Bolide 27 (this is 18!).

Crossbody it hits me at an ideal height – another reason why I bought it (and why I can’t really do more than one Chanel WOC). But if you are taller than 5’4 it might be annoyingly short.

As well as hanging on the shoulder. As you can see, it’s a bit long on me – if you’re 5’4 and above, it’s probably a perfect length. Pants are Uniqlo (current season version here), t-shirt which I know is super wrinkly in photo is Madewell, and shoes are Everlane.

The strap can be entirely detached so the bag can also be used handheld, as an evening bag option. To me this is one of the best parts of the bag (unlike the mini Halzan or the TPM Evelyne) – it can easily go from day to evening. And it has little feet on the bottom. I like feet. I love the mini Plume but I always wish it had feet.

And a comparison photo with it’s big mama, the Bolide 35.  It’s supposedly double its size in width but it seems like more, no?

Honestly, I know it isn’t the most practical purchase but this was one that totally sang to my heart so I was happy to get it. Totally my expensive passion purchase for fall.
