I shared a little peek of this bag a few weeks ago – I opened it for my birthday, and then my son got a little sick, then I got sick, and it sat unused for several weeks. Such is the life of a parent, I’m discovering! I finally got to take it out for a spin, and here it is.
This bag was ordered a few years ago, one of the last times I was in Paris with Mr. Feather. We were at the boutique, and I was attempting to order another black bag, since I basically always think I need just one more black bag in my life. Mr. Feather snapped out of his boredom long enough however to insist that I try a new color, so we picked Anemone, which had just come out at the time. I was really excited because there were a lot of Anemone goodies that I could see in the shop, and thought it was a beautiful color. I couldn’t wait to get it!
Of course, the order ended up taking longer than I thought…and came in basically at the worst time, soon after baby Feather’s arrival, and I was in no mood or condition to have plans to be in Paris in the short term. The news that the bag had arrived honestly barely even registered, since I was sleep deprived and so uncomfortable. I ended up kind of writing off the bag as a loss, along with other important things like sleep! I basically never expected to see it again.
Somehow however, my husband however was able to get the bag held until he was back in Paris (an amazing superhuman feat for anyone familiar with the process), and he sweetly saved it as a surprise until my birthday came. It was a wonderful surprise to see this bag, especially since it had been so long so it was first ordered. I loved it at first sight!
I love the color anemone in every leather that Hermes offers, but especially in chevre – it has slightly more red/magenta tones in this leather. Anemone is lovely in every iteration, but looks different leather to leather I’ve found.
I also always love the grain and sheen of chevre – the leather takes color so well. Although I will say that for this bag, I noticed that the chevre was “softer” than on my other Kelly – I did feel like this batch was a little more delicate. Just a note for anyone looking to place their next order.
And finally the surprise inside…Iris! Iris is another Hermes color that I love, and would love to have a bag in one day. When I finally saw the bag, I was quite happy to see the stark purple contrast – immediately after we placed the order, I forgot what the two swatches had looked like in relation and had worried that they were too close and would blend, but there’s clearly a contrast. I’m quite wimpy when it comes to special orders…I never choose piping or bi-color, always just opting for an interior color. One day I’ll do it.
And finally a little peek at the clochette. I always love that the special orders clochette always have the inner lining as well. I always like to check inside whenever I get a bag!
Thank you so much for reading along with me on my newest little treasure. What goodies have you all been adding lately?

August 29, 2016 at 2:30 pmWhat a beauty! Anemone is gorgeous and the iris lining is perfect. I’m not familiar with chevre…how would you compare it with other leathers you own in terms of color saturation/wear/durability?

August 30, 2016 at 1:03 pmThank you!! Chevre takes colors BEAUTIFULLY and richly but is a bit more delicate than togo/clemence in my opinion for durability. However it wears nicely, and stays stiff longer than those leathers…so it’s really a tradeoff. It’s also a bit lighter 🙂

August 31, 2016 at 8:31 pmIMO bi-colour and contrast piping never work, they always look cheap and tacky. Contrast lining is the way to go.

CONGRATULATIONS! She is a beauty! Or he, do you assign your SO bags a gender? Lol 😉
And your DH, what mastery of persuasion to get the Paris FSH to “hold” the bag…will he share his secret? 🙂
