Today I wanted to share with you all one of the best and least expensive little bags that I’ve come across lately, this lovely little convertible clutch bag. I found this clutch a month ago at a dinner when a woman at our table was wearing it, who collected compliments on it all night! When I found out it was under $60, I decided to order one and try it for myself.
I’m a fan of this bag from Sondra Roberts – it is under $60 and comes in both silver and gold chain options. When I was placing my order, I was worried that the chains would look overly cheap, or plasticky. However in person, the chains are light, but substantial. The inside is a single open compartment.
And here’s an idea of the size for you – about the same as a Chanel Wallet on Chain and a bit bigger than my Knot clutch.
The chain is long and meant to be used in a crossbody fashion – however, it was too long on me, around the same length as a Chanel Wallet on Chain’s. If you are taller than me (I’m 5’1), it would probably hit at the right place. Instead, I found it much easier to wear the chain doubled up…
…or tucked in entirely, and used as a clutch.
Very cool, and the perfect size, right? This bag does has some negative points – because it’s a chain and crochet knit, it’s a bit more floppy so you aren’t going to get that super structured look (it’s very squashy!). There are no zip pockets inside, or card slots. It was also hard for me to shorten the chain easily so that I could wear it cross body if I wanted to – to do that, you’d probably have to find a clip or some mechanism, or…simply be taller. However, for $58 I think this bag is a great option for anybody looking for a cool little convertible clutch for going out and evening events. It’s less than half the price of the tax on the equivalent from Chanel! You can find at at Nordstrom.

October 14, 2013 at 3:43 pmWow! This is really cute! What I love about it most (after the price – lol) is that it is so versatile! From casual to glam, very multi-purpose and definitely worth the cost-per-wear no question. Thank you so much for sharing this – must get! And one for a few friends, too!
Merci, Kat!

October 14, 2013 at 6:52 pmThis is such a cute clutch. You have great taste, and I hope you enjoy it. I’m tempted to copy you and purchase it as well, but I promised myself not to buy any more evening bags. When I go shopping, I must be imagining myself leading a much more glamorous life than I actually do, and so I have more gowns, evening shoes, and clutches than I’ll ever need, unless I become a celebrity.

October 14, 2013 at 8:01 pmHi Lara, you are very wise! I have too many evening items as well (especially shoes….that I can’t wear for more than an hour of standing, max). I try to use my clutches as much as I can out though. I wouldn’t have added another one to my closet at this point unless it was a nice bright color but the price is such that I will probably end up giving it to a cousin or friend’s sister at some point 🙂
