Today’s interview is with the beautiful and very sweet Dlynn – a woman who you can’t help but adore when you meet her. Dlynn is a self described woman “in her 50’s, living in the 20’s”, and she is every bit as cool as she sounds, as you will soon discover. She has a fabulous closet, a diverse set of interests, and a gorgeous handbag (and car) collection that focuses on a color that many (including me) are scared of – white! How cool is that? Enjoy meeting Dlynn!
Who are you, and where are you from?
I am Dlynn. I am originally from Richmond, Virginia, but now live in the Williamsburg and Virginia Beach area. It’s a great location because you have the city/lifestyle of Richmond, history of Colonial Williamsburg, beauty of the mountains and the fun and relaxing feel of Virginia Beach. After getting married to my husband, who is from Long Island, New York, I had the pleasure of moving and living in New York for six years.
We started our family there and then decided to move back to Virginia to raise our three kids and start my husband’s dental practice. Before marriage and kids, I worked as an assistant fashion buyer for a major department store in the city of Richmond. This is where I learned so much about fashion, art, design, photography, marketing and style! I loved this job and really miss this line of work, but my life took me in a different direction.
Can you elaborate more on this different direction? What do you do now?
What do I do now? I have spent the last few years home-schooling my kids through their high school years. I currently have developed and manage a program called “HELPING HANDS”, which teaches high school kids with “special needs” clerical skills with the hopes of having a job after high school graduation. Our middle child was born with a chromosome disorder, and through her disabilities it lead me to discover a great need in our community for a program for special needs kids.
And, to keep my passion of the arts alive ~ I help my husband with marketing, advertising and photography for his dental business. My biggest passion and hobby, is photography. I love photographing anything and everything to show their true beauty!
You have an incredibly bag collection. Can I ask how you got started?
Yes, I love Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Balenciaga, Prada, Hermes (don’t own Hermes yet, but one day) and Tiffany. I never considered myself a collector, but after acquiring so many bags…I guess you could say that I am. It really was by accident. It all started by making that first purchase of a Louis Vuitton speedy in Mini Lin in the color of Dune!
Well, one Speedy led to many others. . . I guess you could say that my collection stands out because it is a little different. I love the classics, but I also love to carry those that may be a challenge, or those that most are afraid to carry. I love white bags! White is so classy, clean and daring! Everyone is always asking me about cleaning them – I don’t! I just carry and enjoy! I do rotate my bags every day, so that is why they all still look new.
Have you ever regretted any of your purchases?
No! I put a lot of thought and research into all of my purchases. No impulse buying!
What’s your favorite bag of all?
Funny, I have many more Louis Vuittons, but my favorite bag is my silver jumbo Chanel! And, my second is Chanel mini in Jaune! That is a hard one…. I have so many favorites!
You’ve described yourself as a fairly simple and comfortable dresser. Can you elaborate more?
I am a pretty simple dresser. I wear my favorite brand of AG Jeans with white, grey or black tops mostly. My favorite brands are James Perse, Splendid, Velvet, Vince, Joie, Michael Stars, Hard Tail and Lululemon. My favorite boutique is James Perse in Malibu, California and New York. His style really describes my minimalistic style…it’s so simple and comfortable!
Everyday I have to dress for daily personal training workouts…my favorite workout gear is Nike, Hard Tail and Lululemon! These brands make you want to exercise…that’s how good they feel.
What do you do in your free time?
I love to travel. Some our family travels include New York, Boston, Cancun, Cozumel, Florida Keys, Miami, Outer Banks, North Carolina, California, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, Paris, France and Amsterdam. As my children are leaving and going off to college my husband and I are approaching a new stage of life. I am looking forward to more new adventures.
What are some of your other passions and hobbies?
Well, this may be a little surprising, but I am somewhat of a tomboy. I love driving Porsches; I can get in, turn on the music and drive for hours! And what color would my cars be? You know it…white!
I love to wakesurf, wakeboard and snowboard. I had to learn to keep up with my husband and teenage boys! I am also a BeachBody coach and strive to help others with daily workouts such as Insanity, P90X, and promote healthy eating habits. I am a vegetarian and strongly believe in daily physical exercise. I am in my 50’s and still continue to live like I’m in my 20’s! I know that my personal training and clean diet are what keeps me living young.
Can you share a piece of life advice?
Its nice to be able to have luxury things, but we should always remember that they are just things. Real wealth is your health!
I just love that last line, I think it is so wise and also just sums up Dlynn perfectly. I really enjoyed getting to know Dlynn – she is just such a happy, healthy, and optimistic person who enjoys and loves life. Thank you very much to Dlynn for sharing some of her beautiful life here with us today!

February 13, 2013 at 10:41 pmIt would be great if you could interview this woman: http://catalinasumakeup.blogspot.com/
She’s a celebrity make-up artist, healthy-eating and exercising aficionado, and a Hermes – Chanel – Cartier loving person. I’m sure she’ll be thrilled to be part of your interviews.
She’s quite an inspiration of those people who want to be in their best shape and a reminder to all that the best motivation ever is to love yourself. She’s someone who clearly enjoys her blessings in life.
Happy Valentines!

February 14, 2013 at 6:28 amI love her carefree attitude to wearing white. I’m a dirt magnet and anything I ever own always gets a mark on its first visit out. I admire her dedication to home schooling her kids. Not an easy task to follow through day in day out. I’m totally in love with her SC for LV bag.
