I love swim cover ups. I use them all the time by the pool and beach and just putting one on makes me think of summer. Happy times! If close friends are coming over and I’m feeling lazy I also will to throw one on. Just as comfortable as my ratty old pajamas but not nearly as visually offensive.
I like a kaftan/kurta style with some sleeve because it gives some sun coverage. This is one of my new favorite kurtas, from Roberta Roller Rabbit, taken at The Carneros Inn last weekend.
Nanette Lepore Riviera tunic (here, here)
Roberta Roller Rabbit Kurta (another version here)
Zara tunic (similar here, and $20 here)
With all the sun, tan and sunscreen exposure, my coverups get thrashed after a few seasons so I always try to stock up on some more during end of summer sales (and there’s a ton going on right now). They come in handy when you go on holiday later in the year. Plus, when it’s cold and dreary in winter, looking at the colorful patterns in my closet reminds me of sunnier times!
What do you all use to cover up at the pool and beach?

August 24, 2012 at 8:29 amI enjoy cover ups too. Have you tried Etro’s? Expensive but divine.

August 24, 2012 at 11:59 amI haven’t tried them on but I’ve definitely admired them! Etro + Missoni = my dream kaftan makers, just too $$$$!

August 24, 2012 at 12:48 pmOh wow, love your kaftans, Katherine! I was a little mad for them when I was living in Auckland where the weather is more conducive to these type of clothes.

August 24, 2012 at 1:50 pmI can totally picture that! Still hope to visit Auckland one day!

August 24, 2012 at 7:52 pmThese look great, and yours fit you so well – just right right length and all. My beach cover-ups are just whatever long t-shirts or tanks I can find around the house that I don’t mind being damaged by saltwater and sunscreen. Clearly I lack the glamour gene.
Katherine
August 24, 2012 at 9:22 pmLin I definitely do not have the glamour gene either, I live in long t shirts and tanks all summer long! They are the most comfy 🙂

August 25, 2012 at 2:25 pmHaving just come back from sun soaked Greece and spending most of my time in swimwear, I realised that what I was really lacking was some serious cover ups. The ones you have are gorgeous but especially loving the stripy one as I like the orange detailing on the neckline. I’m going to start stocking up for next year now I think. You look very polished. I just looked like a little grease monkey on my holidays smothered in sun tan lotion trying not to get a tan.

August 25, 2012 at 5:37 pmAww thank you Sue! I’m sure you looked fabulous – a similar vacation experience is what prompted me to start stocking up. There are some great sales right now!
