During my closet cleaning frenzy last weekend, I donated a few shoes, hopefully to happier homes:
1. Red glitter pumps that were too “Moulin Rouge” for day yet too disco ball looking for night
2. Filthy beige Louboutin espadrilles that Goodwill assured me would still fly out the door
3. Lace up gladiators which made me look even stumpier than I already am and,
4. Wedge J.Crew rubber flip flops (anybody else remember these)? I wore them in high school and bought lots of back up pairs because I thought I would love them forever – I was wrong.
In the spirit of just buying the one item that I really want and would wear instead of a bunch of substitutes, I picked up these YSL Tribute Sandals in camel patent from Nordstrom. I wear my nude patent pumps all the time and was missing the perfect sandal version:
YSL Tribute sandal (shorter heel version here)
I love my black pair but these have a higher heel and better satisfy my Napoleonic desire to be a wee bit taller. Plus they are still really comfortable. It’s funny because when these came out years ago I thought they looked too high and a little “Betty Boop,” but now I love them and scarily enough the 5+ inch height is totally normal to me now. What happened, have heel heights just been getting higher and higher?

March 2, 2012 at 3:42 pmBeautiful shoes! Wow, 5+ is way too high but the platform is pretty thick so I think it gives you more stability than say 5+" with only 1/2" platform.

March 2, 2012 at 4:14 pmThese are lovely! They're definitely on my wish list. I tried them on last year and was surprised that a heel novice like me could actually walk in the shorter version.

March 2, 2012 at 5:32 pmi love these YSL sandels!!!! The camel color is gorgeous!!! I just clicked into your link for the black version one, just as gorgeous!!!! Great taste indeedy=D i had to laugh when you said the heels reminded you of Betty Boop, lol.
Yes, i have to say, i can never get sick of heels, the higher the better please.lol.It's funny how our style changes over time eh? I couldn't imagine wearing 3-4 inches heels years back but then again, with the comfy platforms in the front of many heels nowadays, it's a big life saver from sole-pain (most of the time anyway).
Have a great weekend!!!

March 2, 2012 at 6:07 pmAmen! Love the Tributes! I'm all about saving up for a splurge item – in the past I would do more quantity over quality, but as I get older that is changing 🙂 I still love a bargain though.

March 3, 2012 at 5:44 amThey're gorgeous! I think heel heights have gotten higher and higher – I have a few pairs of 5" heels myself now. It's a little nuts, though I get away with it, since I'm so short to start with. Love your black version too. 🙂

March 3, 2012 at 6:10 amGorgeous shoes! I've been keeping my eye on a pair but have not pulled the trigger on it yet. I've heard that they're comfy, but I'd like to hear more about it. I also like the Tribtoo, thinking it may be great for work and casual as well. Sadly I haven't been able to find an excuse to purchase a pair of classy for work, yet casual for weekends type of pump because I'm afraid I'll be towering over my boss. Have a great weekend!

March 5, 2012 at 4:18 amYay! You got a new pair too! I love these. They are the most comfortable heels. Funny enough… I though the same thing about the heels. I wear my lower tributes all the time, but just never got the courage to actually take my high ones out. Until recently, I tried them on again at home and didn't think they look too high anymore. I'll probably get to take them out for the first time this summer! Love your purchase btw… can't wait to see you pair them with outifts.

March 5, 2012 at 1:54 pmThey're beyond – I love the style.
I remember (I think) when you bought them in another color a while back. Everyone loves these – they look so unstable, I def. would have to try these on rather than ordering online before buying…but I do adore them…
Congratulations on another lovely closet addition 🙂 🙂
