I mentioned earlier this week here that I have a slightly crazy parka obsession – which is how I ended up buying a jacket intended for use next winter a few weeks ago, just as the weather was really beginning to heat up for spring here.
I have been obsessed with finding the perfect Mr & Mrs Furs jacket ever since I saw Cecilia’s in her interview – I love fur but find that many styles are too formal for me. Mr. & Mrs. Furs – which takes vintage US military parkas and then lines them with all kinds of beautiful luxurious materials – is perfect for my lifestyle. You can see one of their classic designs here, on Giovanna Battaglia:

I finally had the opportunity to choose among of a few of their parkas for purchase and ended up with this one below, the same one as beautiful Cecilia’s. This baby is WARM.
Mr. & Mrs. Furs parka
It’s kind of a loony item for me in California but I love it! Definitely a “crazy passion” purchase for me, have you had any of those? Do you ever regret them? Where are they now?

March 16, 2012 at 1:32 pmIt's gorgeous on you! If I let one crazy obssession get the better of me, it would be long evening dresses when I simply hardly even do cocktails any more so they would just languish in my closet. My other obssession is fur and I recently found a vintage grey mink short jacket so I am looking forward to wearing it next winter.

June 26, 2012 at 9:50 pmHow do I get a Mr. & Mrs. Furs Parka? I’ve been searching Forever for this.
What size did you buy? (I think we’re the same size so this would be very helpful). Thank you so very much.

July 23, 2012 at 5:41 pmHi Lisa, this is Cecilia (yes the one in K’s interview). I got mine from luisaviaroma.com a couple years back. There is currently a mink-lined coat in XS on luisavoaroma.com; all others (jacket or coat) are “only” rabbit-lined and are in S (too big for K and me). Good luck!

March 16, 2012 at 2:30 pmDon't know whY I cannot comment directly to you, Katherine. This outfit reminds me of my jungle wear, never thought it would make it out in fashion, especially with furs.

March 16, 2012 at 2:53 pmIt's a bit crazy but I like the concept. I don't think it'll ever get cold enough here for such an item but parkas are great indeed. I just wish this was a faux fur piece; I'm vehemently against any natural fur.

March 16, 2012 at 5:48 pmThat jacket looks super duper warm! Do you think the temperatures will drop enough for you to be able to wear it next year? It really is beautiful though, so I understand why you just had to get it! 🙂

I was going crazy over vintage Haori Kimono jacket a while ago and went on a buying rampage! I still use them now as light jackets. My husband always teases me everytime I put them on saying "Don't forget your sword!"

March 16, 2012 at 9:16 pmI bet you must've been boiling in your parka when you had the photo taken! BUT i'm beyond jealous that you have such warm temperature over at your part of the world 🙂 I'm still looking for my perfect parka, preferably waterproof seeing how much it rains here.

March 16, 2012 at 10:25 pmGenerally am a fan of your outfits, however I don't agree with your love of fur.. Too inhuman and cruel for my liking.. But each their own!

October 13, 2012 at 1:09 amI LOVE Mr & Mrs Furs! I got a long parka with fur a month or so ago. I have been wanting one for several years now but I´ve never been able to find a location where to buy them. They are available online from their store in Italy. I have so much catching up to do regarding your blog, I guess I will be stuck here forever:0)

October 13, 2012 at 1:10 amA friend said she had read about the parka on here. That is how I came here:0) She is now also the owner of a Mr & Mrs Furs parka.

October 13, 2012 at 8:41 pmHi Kat! Thanks for your kind comments – I recognize you from tPF, I always enjoy your posts and beautiful taste. I love, love my parka and can’t wait to wear it (totally impractical purchase for California – but had to have it!). I agree that it’s quite difficult to buy from them, and they no longer ship to the US 🙁 Luisa Via Roma also stocks them I believe!

November 4, 2022 at 10:34 amI remember this post from ages ago and have been looking at these coats to survive another miserable Chicago winter. Do you still wear and love yours? And I think they have renamed to Mr. and Mrs. Italy?? I’ve been looking at them on the real real….

November 4, 2022 at 10:14 pmI sold mine a while ago! I guess I felt bad because of the fur….it was gorgeous though. But heavy!
