Hi everybody! Today is Part 2 of Sabrina of The Beauty Look Book’s interview (Part one here). Today’s post focuses on Sabrina’s personal style and fashion, which you will see is just as amazing as her beauty collection. Her items are all lovely and incredibly well thought out, and each has a clear place in her overall wardrobe. Enjoy meeting more of the beautiful Sabrina!
Can you share some facets of your style? What’s a typical day outfit for you, and a typical night outfit?
Why thank you! My style is actually very basic as I stick to safety brands like J.Crew, Banana Republic and Theory for their simplicity and classic style. Everything from them is easy to layer/coordinate. A typical daytime outfit is a pencil skirt, blouse and cardigan and pumps or flats. These days I’m in love with Jcrew’s silk shirts. I also love pieces from Joie and Ella Moss. Night time outfits are fairly casual as well, living on the west coast in Southern California, we’re all about the casual.
What apparel/accessory items do you wear the most, and that you’ve gotten the most use out of?
I think any outfit can be easily dressed up with a nice handbag or shoes. I get the most use out of my flap bags from Marc Jacobs (The Large Single) and Chanel (Classic Flap and Wallet on Chain). I also get quite a lot of use out of my flats. My favorite brand for shape and style has been J.Crew but I just recently discovered Lanvin and Balenciaga.
What are some of your absolute FAVORITE items in your wardrobe?
My absolute favorite item is my Miu Miu bow satchel bag from the first generation of bow bags. It comes in a buttery soft slouchy leather. It’s small enough not to overpower me (I’m petite at 5’3”) but big enough to hold quite a bit inside. I also adore my Chanel Classic flap that my husband and sister bought for me as a birthday present. I’m loving Goyard coin purses right now as well. Sometimes it’s nice to carry a single zip-pouch and throw everything inside because it’s less bulky than a full sized wallet.
What are some items that you really wanted at the time – that perhaps now you regret?
I regret a few of my first pieces of monogram Louis Vuitton. In my early 20’s I was into smaller bags. I soon realized they weren’t so practical for me because of all the stuff I lug around. They are good for going out when all you need is cash, id, keys and a lipstick/powder for touch ups.
Can you share a key piece of fashion/style advice that you’ve learned over the years?
I rely on my sister and close friends for fashion advice. I constantly text photos from the dressing room asking “yay or nay?” I am always looking to family and friends for inspiration. Personally I like to have one item in my outfit stand out and have everything else be simple. Sometimes I will wear something like a brighter deep turquoise blouse with an ivory cardigan and grey pencil skirt with a printed/quilted bag. Other times I will wear a red bag and have my outfit be neutral in ivory and camel tones.
What are some of your other hobbies and passions?
I love watching comedy TV, have a weakness for puppies and kittens, I have a sweet tooth and love to bake. Thank you for featuring me on Feather Factor!
I really enjoyed doing this interview series with Sabrina, and especially all her photos as it’s clear she loves and enjoys beautiful items. She has such a nicely edited closet, and if I had a friend who wanted to build a great wardrobe, I’d direct her straight to Sabrina’s style to find items that she should invest in. Thank you to Sabrina for taking the time for this interview and for sharing her lovely photography with us! For more of her, check out The Beauty Look Book.

December 15, 2011 at 1:58 pmShe's like many women I know including myself who invest in expensive accessories but are more frugal with clothes. I'm amazed by the wonderful Tom Ford lipstick shades. I'll have to check them out.

December 15, 2011 at 4:11 pmI really love her classic, sophisticated style. This has been a really great interview and I agree that she's great inspiration for building a well edited closet. And I just have to ask what color nail polish she's wearing in that image with the Chanel 2.55. It's such a gorgeous color.

December 15, 2011 at 5:10 pmI'm one of Sabrina's loyal readers and am delighted to see her getting more exposure. For those of you who have just met Sabrina, give her blog a read. She is one of the most charming and genuine people you'd ever want to follow. Her honest reviews are always thoughtful, well crafted, beautifully photographed, and–thanks to her humongous collection–often filled with great comparison swatches. In addition to cosmetics, she also does the occasional OOTD and fun peak inside her handbag. Sabrina never pretends to be an expert as some bloggers are wont to do, but comes across as a fun and caring girlfriend happy to share her experiences in beautyland
