Today’s interview is with the lovely Anna Jane of see jane – one of my favorite style blogs. I love Anna Jane’s blog because she has a really fantastic sense of style and her looks are always very chic, but also wearable. Enjoy meeting Anna Jane!
Who are you? Where do you live, and what do you do?
I’m Anna Jane and I live in Chicago with my fiance. I’m a higher education consultant and spend a lot of my time traveling for work. My blog is my little escape from the finance world and touches on my true passions, like fashion and cooking.
Who are some of your favorite style icons that you consistently look to?
Not to sound cliche but I’ve always been a huge fan of Kate Moss’ style. I also love Diane Kruger, Olivia Palermo, and Joanna Hillman. I feel like they all lean towards classic shapes and silhouettes but put their own twist on it, which is what I like to do. I also love looking to my fellow bloggers for style inspiration. It’s refreshing to see real girls put themselves out there, who clearly don’t have a team of stylists and hair/makeup artists look just as chic as celebrities.
What are some of the most worn items in your closet? Which brands do you own the most of?
My closet is such a mix of brands that it’s hard to say where my loyalty lies…I try it all out! I do have my favorites, though; a few of the things I can’t stop wearing include:
a black Burberry trench I bought at Bloomingdales during a promotion (30% off!) that I wear constantly–every season, work, play, and everything in between… best clothing investment I ever made
J Brand jeans. It seems that everyone has “their brand” which flatters their body type and fits like a glove. J Brand is that brand for me and I pretty much only buy their jeans (I’ve had some pairs since college..and I’m 26 now!)
J Crew cardigans and pencil skirts are part of my work “uniform.” Cardigans are great for layering and I always grab one before I head out the door. J Crew always has them on sale in multiple colors, too. As for pencil skirts, I work in a corporate environment so I live them. I think they’re such a classic silhouette, too and I’ve been wearing them every since I graduated college and don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.
My fiance gave me a Chloe bag for Christmas and honestly, it’s the nicest, most supple, beautiful bag ever. I’d carry it more if I wasn’t so scared of ruining it!
What are the dream items that you’d like to own in your closet one day?
I’ve always had an affinity for bags, ever since high school, and I would definitely like to see a Mulberry, Proenza Schouler, YSL, or Chanel in my closet some day. And maybe some Goyard monogrammed luggage someday, too 🙂
What did you purchase that you thought you would end up loving…that you haven’t worn so much?
I’ve definitely had my share of these types of occurrances. Usually these types of purchases are dresses I buy on impulse that aren’t really my style. I have a few dresses in my closet that have only been worn once (but I’m holding onto them in case I’m in the mood!).
What are some of your other hobbies?
Blogging is definitely my main hobby as of late! I also love to travel, go to concerts, cook and read.
I know you’re getting married soon. What have been the most fun and least fun parts about wedding planning?
It’s been so fun looking at other weddings for inspiration, but at the same time that can be a double-edged sword. It can be frustrating making those decisions as I’ve gone through phases of second-guessing my plans and I’ve found myself worrying that my wedding won’t be as beautiful as those that I see in the blogs. That being said, you need to remember that it’s a day about you and your loved one and that things like decorations ultimately don’t mean that much in the end.
Any final parting words of advice, on fashion, weddings and life?
Thank you so much for interviewing me! I just want to say that I love the blogging community and that I’ve met some really great people through this outlet–I honestly never anticpated this when I originally started it. It’s also been a great way to release my creative energy so I’m so thankful that people are so receptive!
Thank you so much Anna Jane for being such a sweet interview subject and for all these gorgeous photos 🙂 Also to my readers, Anna Jane just got married – so if you visit her blog, make sure to give your congratulations! For more, visit her blog here.
