Hi! Updating a little bit on what’s been going on lately here – I know I haven’t been posting as much as I used to. So thank you if you are still reading – I’ll still try to post at as much as I can (I’m aiming for at least once a week!).
Travel: We took a few summer trips as a family, including our first plane trip, to Maui. It was nice but wow travel is expensive this year. Definitely was surprised both by the cost of tickets and the hotel. I usually would start thinking about travel next year but I don’t even know because everything is so much $$. As. with many things these days, I’ll think about it later.
But! It was really nice to travel and get out. We took a direct flight and luckily had no nightmares. As a tradeoff we booked for quite early in the morning – per advisement – as that would give us time to get rebooked if necessary later in the day. It meant me and my husband had to wake up at 4 AM the day of to get everything ready though. We were like zombies towards the end of the day. AND that we didn’t check any luggage, which meant that I didn’t get to bring all the clothes I wanted. Oh well.
Covid: Both kids will be getting their second/third shots this week! Yay. I have no idea how school is going to be this year. Are they going to be masked? Is it going to be crazy? I both yearn for the days without masks (especially for my daughter who has never really had a school experience WITHOUT masks) and am also fearful of it because of the spread. We also have friends with immunocompromised kids, parents, relatives – there’s a responsibility to them, as well.
Shopping: I’ve been shopping more 🙁 Random little things. Random big things. Some items I love! Some items I sent back immediately. Some items I waited to go on further discount in the designer salse and are now all sold out. I need to do a post on recent purchases – okay, that’s next on my list to do for the blog.
How have you been? I hope you are all having a great summer!

July 25, 2022 at 10:02 amI love your blog and get a little jolt of excitement every time I see a new one come up! Thank you for keeping your corner of the internet alive – it means a lot to your readers!!
I can’t wait for the next blog post on shopping items :).
And yes – traveling is so much more expensive. But it’s worth it to still hold on to a sense of adventure and making new memories with our near and dear ones.
I can’t wait for summer to end. It’s my least favorite time of the year. I am so ready fro fall!!!

July 25, 2022 at 10:43 amThank you for sharing your blogging efforts. I’ve mentioned before, you’re one of only a handful I follow still and I truly appreciate you continuing the writing.
Would love to see a post on your recent purchases, little and big, and how you feel about them.
What a relief that your children have been vaccinated and that the family was able to travel together.

July 25, 2022 at 2:54 pmDear Kat,
Thank you for posting. You are one of the few blogs that I still follow and I appreciate your sense of ‘real’. I have been travelling whenever I could from Asia to Europe. Every country is different and it’s disconcerting at times to see how Covid has changed our world. Different cities, different attitudes. In London, masks are off and sanitizer stations are empty. In Paris, folks are happy to hug and kiss. Asian tourists are rare in Europe and the very few travelers are usually masked and cautious. In Asia, masks are the norm. I agree that travel costs are now exorbitant but I am just very grateful to be able to take an evening walk down the Seine, wander into Spanish tapas bars. And I am so very thankful to see friends and family! Children are a blessing and the new little ones in my life have made me realize how resilient children are.

July 25, 2022 at 5:15 pmThank you for motoring on! It is hard work to do this week in and out. I would miss your Monday/Friday missives if you decided to move on, but don’t begrudge you your time back.
My girl crush Amy S. from Tibi has a packing protocol which I love – multi-use pieces, of course, but backing multiple different textures AND color story aka not 3 t shirts in cotton thinking it is practical and not all black but interchangeable colors…. and pack for the adjectives (chill, comfy, sexy, whatever) you want to feel as primary (as opposed to matching outfits to events).

July 26, 2022 at 8:42 amI’m just worried about a possible monkeypox outbreak in schools. Apparently, most people under 50 do not have the small pox vaccine which gives some protection against monkeypox. Say what?? I read it was because small pox was thought to be eradicated so they stopped administering it. You know you have it if you have that scar from a shot. Like a blister. I think most baby boomers have this scar.
You have probably seen this, but sharing in case you missed it. https://www.cnn.com/style/amp/kate-moss-painful-modeling-interview/index.html
Who knew she felt uncomfortable showing her nipple back in those Calvin Klien ads.
I do miss your posts, but I understand if you decide to stop. Instagram isn’t what is was used to be. Now it is all about TikTok and quick gratification. And with kids, they will demand more of your attention ..or time..esp when they enter sports and activities. Enjoy life and the kids. They do grow up quickly. Have a great rest of your summer!

July 28, 2022 at 7:37 amI’m new here but love your content and layout. Found you doing research on a H bag but love how you’ve kept up the art of blogging…seems like it’s a lost these days with all the IG and tik tok. I look forward to coming here to get out of that chaos.
