Just a few bite size pieces of reading to share this weekend. The first I found in this month’s Harper Bazaar. I like these types of features in general but lately the wish/it lists provided by magazines have failed me as right now I do not have $4,000+ lying around to invest in a pastel scuba material dress so that I can participate in spring’s midriff baring trend. I thought Linda Fargo’s list though was classic and appropriate for a range of ages. Go Linda!

Also I found this little article lying around my desk. I first ripped it out in November of last year to share with you all, but unfortunately it took me this long to figure out how to use my scanner. If you haven’t read Michael Lewis’ Boomerang I highly recommend it. Below is an interesting infographic that helps to illustrate why the world economy and Europe’s specifically, is in such a mess. The statistics on Greece and Iceland I thought were especially eye opening, I remember in school when we learned how Iceland became an investment banking center seemingly overnight.

I hope you enjoyed and that you’re having a lovely weekend!

February 26, 2012 at 4:06 pmYes, very funny! I've been on a buying/sending back spree. I don't know who I am style wise this spring, I'm in that late 40's transition mode.
Have a great Sunday!

February 26, 2012 at 4:08 pmReading about the financial mess of the world, makes me a bit stressed and scared. I don't know if it's still safe to keep investing.

February 27, 2012 at 1:33 amHi there!
LOL, that was my thought too re: the dress….and thank you for also sharing "The Kiss of Debt" as well. The hard numbers around the situation are fascinating (and very scary!)

February 27, 2012 at 3:19 amLove the classic pieces to have, I too was thinking about a truly classic watch, and RED lipstick, and also a pair of red heels. So you notice the manolos look the same every season? Classic.

February 27, 2012 at 10:15 amomgosh the kiss of debt article was so interesting to look at!! had no idea that germany lost so much money to U.S. with subprime loans..
although i still think germany's ok.. i always judge a countries economic status based on how much shopping i see people doing!! don't laugh!! i've noticed SF has slowed down a little bit.. and when i visit my parents in Washington D.C. the stores and restaurants are virtually EMPTY.. nobodies carrying ANY shopping bags.. whereas in German.. everytime i go out EVERYONE'S shopping! it's amazing to me.
haha.. i love your misobutter fish story.. Roy's is THE BOMB! handsdown favorite restaurant ever.. i love that it's not pretentious either.. but just serves awesome food.. it's probably a good thing your catering company didn't serve it.. i really think roy's miso butter fish is really hard to recreate.. i took the hubs to eat it at the SF Roy's and it wasn't great honestly..

February 27, 2012 at 1:58 pmI'll have to check out Michael Lewis' book. How true. The UK economy is going down down down. I was in Greece last year and goodness, the country is in a mess. Unemployment is sky high and youths drawing graffiti on every available surface including historical sites.
I couldn't agree more with Jenny. I like that you mix the fashion fun posts with ones that have a more serious message. I used to love magazines but they're in their own little world. With the current recession, who has money to splash out on £2000 dress? Or come up with a list that is completely out of touch with the reality of most people on this planet.

February 27, 2012 at 2:33 pmMust have a peek in Lewis' book. I don't read Bazar fashion magazine,
and I agree with Chocolate above on the current world recession.
